A few general questions from a noob to help other noobs

I guess I’m gonna take the plunge and look like an idiot doing so:

  • I’ve revisited the first areas of the game a few times, specifically these:

I can’t find any enemies around these parts any more. Do they not respawn like in other regions?

  • I rarely find radios and boomboxes any more. Same issue - no respawns?

  • Is there any appreciable difference between the ammo variations (FMJ, Hollow point etc)? I use them interchangeably, and it doesn’t seem to matter much, if at all?

  • The weapon descriptions show bars for damage etc. Are these comparable between the different classes of weapons (SMGs, rifles, rocket launcher)?

  • Is there any way to find out if there are side missions left? Same for clothes, any way to check how many variations exist?

  • Do enemies react to the flashlight? In most games, they do, but I’m not so sure in Gen0.

Feel free to ask more questions - I’m sure I forgot half of it.

These are good points! and even though I’ve finished the game, I actually don’t know the answers Lol

From what little I can gather, enemies and some stuff like radios and medkits respawn after a few hours. As far as bullets go, Armor Piercing is for, well, armor, Hollow Point is better against components (the machines’ gas tanks and any other parts that produce blue sparks) and FMJ is like a middle ground between those two, I guess? I always use whatever I have in larger quantity and don’t notice that much of a difference to be honest =P

Whenever you reach a new settlement or town or unlock a bunker it’ll tell you how many missions there are left in there. The game’s wiki has a list of all side quests too if you’re uncertain you’ve explored everything.

Regarding the flashlight, I’d like to know that too. I always forget to test it.

The ammo part i think i have an answer for.

FMJ (full metal jacket ) is better on penetrating armor but still do close to full component dmg so you dmg armor better whit it and do good dmg to what is behind the armor.

Hollow point ( amunition made for big dmg to flesh and tissue and organ dmg. an bullet that expend rapidly on impact and is not made for armor penetration. in game terms it will dmg armor but less then an fmj but will do maximum dmg on components.

then you have soft point ammo ( hunting amunition same as hollow points in tissue damage but still have some hard target dmg

and AP rounds. bullets made for pushing trow armor ( Armor-piercing bullets typically contain a harden steel ,tungsten or tungsten carbide penetrator encased in an copper or copronickel jacket that protects the barrel of the gun when fired similar to the normal lead filled ones this rounds are loaded whit more propellant charge and whit higher weight of the bullet they travel faster and the mantel is acting like an peal so it will make sure that the harder bullet get an grabb on the armor and then continues in as long as possible in the armor whit out shattering. (trying my best her whit english im swedish)

game terms high armor dmg low component dmg

so you cold save some ammo by using armor penetrating bullets first to dmg armor and later use bullets that do higher component dmg.

i know some about guns and bullets and ammunition and explosives. but the game values of this im not sure hove they work.

the granatgevär round in game is probably an He round ( the common old one in sweden, this can be fired in 2 ways direkt hit or primed to explode as an airburst on an set distance and it fires of ruffly 800 harden steelballs baked in explosives if used for direct hit it can penetrate light armored targets like apc and stuff like that. in game we cant prime it as you can irl =(

ashame we did not get heat rounds or shaped charged ones =D

All randomly wandering machines respawn. Only those who are mission specific don’t respawn. Also, if the relay beacon doesn’t respawn then it’s guards won’t either.

Easiest fix: quit to Main Menu and then Continue your game. This will generate new machine spawn seed for your game.

Radios, boomboxes and any other item that is stand-alone, are one time pick-up only. Only the contents of loot bags/boxes respawn after 4 in-game hours. The rest don’t.

There is.

HP/SP - best against components but weak against armor.
FMJ - good middle ground between component damage and armor penetration.
AP - best against armor but can be weak against components (depends on a weapon).

Few examples:

  • .243 s-rifle with SP loaded takes 1 shot to penetrate military runner fuel tank. Same weapon with FMJ ammo takes 2 shots to blow runner’s fuel tank.
  • AG4 a-rifle with AP loaded can penetrate tank’s armored shoulder joint with about 30 rounds or so, until you’d damage the joint itself (blue sparks). Same weapon with FMJ ammo takes roughly two to three times more ammo until tank’s shoulder joint armor is penetrated and you are damaging the component underneath.
  • Klaucke 17 with FMJ ammo uses about 25% less ammo to take down a military runner (shooting into the runner body) compared when using AP ammo.

Note: your mileage may vary depending on in-game difficulty, range, angle, aim and weapon quality.

Yes.

Yes. Check the side mission list from GZ wiki and compare it to yours,

Depends on a clothing set.

If vanilla clothes, then only way would be asking one of the veterans (who have collected them all) to provide the list of vanilla clothes they have. As far as i know, currently, there is no written list of all vanilla clothes (since doing that is tedious, manual work).

If event clothes, then it depends on which clothing set are you talking about.

  • List containing every variation of Slayer, Elegant, Antarctic and Worn clothing set was leaked.
  • FNIX set is written in game (under challenges).
  • Experimental, Resistance, Fancy and Police set variations are unknown.
  • Miami, Adventurer, Midsummer and Tourist full sets you’ll get with the Schweet Vanity Pack DLC.
  • Timeless, Swedish Easter, Workout and Rainproof full sets you’ll get with the Tubular Vanity Pack DLC.
  • Interceptor, Ecto-scientist, Xeno-Specialist and Annihilator full sets you’ll get with the Blockbuster Vanity Pack DLC.

No.

Are the Truth Challenges a good way to find out? I assume that once the last Challenge level is completed for a region, there are no more missions to be found there. After all, the challenge description says (emphasis mine):

Complete the last 6 Main or Side Missions in the Archipelago Region

I am pretty sure that enemies react to your flashlight, as I tried this on Hunters, and Runners, and it seems to work. The Seekers don’t have any effect on the flashlight, and I don’t see any point turning off your flashlight when passing a Tank or Harvester, as they don’t see really well.

Well, that was informative! Thanks for the answers, didn’t think of some of these. There seems to be a consensus regarding ammo types (thanks @Aesyle @Cerb), and at least the side missions are clear-cut. Got them all btw.

My understanding regarding ammo types is that it mainly matters in co-op scenarios where the players fulfill different roles, or when playing on the highest difficulty where every bullet counts. I seem to have picked the type that happens to work best for my playstyle, using mostly the non-AP variations outside of my PGV 90, so that’s a load off my mind.

The clothes are still a mystery though. I got 17 variations of shoes A, three of shoes B, and I’m not quite sure just how many there are in total. They don’t all have, say, 20 variants for each item? I recently found one Police jacket - are there pants, shoes, hats etc too? I got the DLC stuff - those won’t get any additional in-game drops if I understand correctly?

The respawning robots are tied to the relay beacons, which also don’t respawn in my game? Haven’t seen a single beacon for at least 60 hours now, but some areas are repopulated with bots when I restart the game. I can’t visit some locations without being swarmed, but other areas are quite dead. The marked area is simply the biggest continuous ‘dead zone’. I recently decided to take a cykel sightseeing tour around the island, and I wasn’t attacked a single time. The only time the enemy marker reacted was with the two respawning ticks south of Iboholmen farm. They seem to live in their own world, guarding that rock.

The respawning loos mystifies me. I got respawning flares, flashlights, three-time-reusable ammo boxes and medkits that reappear faster than loot crates (ammo boxes/backpacks etc) are refilled, but radios and grenades/mines are mostly gone for good.

In MP, what matters more is trap setting and being a live bait (flanking), rather than ammo type used.

Here’s what i have shoes wise;

Screenshot

I know for a fact that i’m missing Slayer’s shoes, brown and 2-3 different colored Fancy high heels.

There is also a female police hat with cute pony tail hairstyle (have it) but for other items in Police set, other than the hat and jacket - that is unknown, since Police set is the newest non-event clothing set in the game and it’s parts are extremely hard to find.

Yes.

Could be issue with your game since in my game, Archipelago is nicely populated with 7 rivals while South Coast is packed with FNIX machines and 8 rivals.

You can find those from big green loot boxes as well, mostly in Mountains region.

i need more cloths and shoes for sure after seeing that list =D

Decided to screenshot mine (warning: loooong) - might help for comparing what’s out there.

Clothes

No resistance or fancy clothes as far as I can tell.

Also got my stats list:

Stats

Some things stand out:

  • Warboard and side missions add up to 72, but 76 missions are completed.
  • One location isn’t completed.
  • I have 227 assists as a solo player…

Here are all the clothes i have;
(I’m missing few event clothing pieces.)

Head

Eye wear

Face

Face paint

Neck

Jacket

Shirt

Pants

Hands

Wrists

Shoes

You’ll get Resistance set from the machines in Himfjäll (need to have Alpine Unrest DLC). Fancy set is event set (Christmas '19 event) and currently unavailable.

Stats include all MP games as well and are known to be wonky.

Here are mine if interested;

When it says days, does it mean in-game? And how did a fight last 49 days?! That takes determination lol.
