I read the patch notes again, it seems that now only the standard ammo type of each “ammo” is available from looting.
The non experimental but (more advanced?) type of ammo has to be crafted.
While it makes sense, i dont like it

So we can only get 1 ammo type from the usually 2 types of ammo available per ammo types
At least its what i got from that still havent played much.
I seen that aswell but it’s wild how I’m finding fmj for mostly all the other ammo types or whatever other ones also have fmj it’s just the 50bmg that I can’t seem to find anywhere
So if that’s the case I can get other fmj ammo no problem but now 50bmg fmj can only be crafted … I’m not sure I like that
On top of that I think I’m stuck in the mission they added exclusion zone … Says to disable air base relay but I don’t see any marker to progress the mission after hitting two switches on power nodes … Guess I’ll keep looking around tho
This makes no sense. Yesterday I played for a while and I couldn’t find any birdshot for my X-shotgun - only buckshot.
And .50 AP is everywhere, even though I had no weapon using .50.
Idk which is the standard to be found ammo type for shotguns now.
I had almost the same with .44
I got every ammo type that I had a weapon for.
But I didn’t have a .44 in my pockets, but got some ammo for it quite often.
Finding .50 cal and RLG-7 rockets on machines, more then I used to destroy them.
7.62 and 5.56 in loads regardles if I’ve only use a 7.62 or a 5.56 weapon, especially 7.62.
.44 or 9mm pistol ammo is quite common too without using any handgun.
This is such a stupid change, purely implemented to force a user to engage with their crafting system. A system I was entirely happy to pretend didn’t exist.
Hmm… yes, the distribution of ammo from machines seems to be a bit weird now. E.g. I found 2x RLG-7 ammo and 20x .50 FMJ on a military Runner… …that was armed with a normal SMG btw…
Yup. It’s entirely by design and it’s such a ridiculous change to make optional systems mandatory. Locking ammo we’ve had access to since 2019 behind a mechanic and in-game economy engineered to make it a grind to encourage ‘player engagement’.
Not every player has time to engage with the grind. This is a red flag for me.
I’m not sure about the new ammo drops being based on what gun being used. I mainly use the EXP .50 PVG with AP rounds and yes I get a ton of them after a fight. But at the same time I get a massive amount of HEDP rounds which I dont use. I do carry the 5* rocket launcher with EMP rounds just to take Firebirds out…zap them with the EMP then unload on them with my PKM w/ EMP augment…easy peasy. So the 50 cal and the PKM is about all I use and still get so much HEDP I either have to dump them or go to safe house and save or recycle them. They are so freakin’ heavy and fill the loot bin up fast too.
