it would be very interesting to see a firearm with flechette rounds as seen in the movie elysium.
I’m referring to this scene. the idea is to give the experimental AI-76 a laser range finder which allows fired bullets to explode into smaller fragments before impact to maximize energy tranfer between the bullet and the target, this essentially is like the experimental magnus but instead of overpenetration this weapon would have no penetration at all, it would shred armor and exposed components and maybe some stagger since it’s a wall of metal hitting the target, the number of projectiles created from the bullet can also be lowered or increased for balance reasons.
PROS:
-good at dealing with armor plating and exposed components
-can be fired full auto
-great for stunning/staggering combattants
CONS:
-bullet arming distance* is 5-10 meters depending on balancing
-recoil can be higher than the non experimental (because the special ammo)
-no scope attachment
-possibly no muzzle either
-damage is superficial so hidden components won’t take damage without removing armor
(*arming distance: minimum distance before the bullet can split, to early split might cause malfunction or harm to the user or others)
this is my request, seing the experimental magnus makes me think that it fits in the game, magnus goes through, AI-76 doesn’t penetrate, i am not demanding this i just think it would make a fine addition to the game.
also i do not know the legality of this but it should be fine as long as it isn’t paid content (even tough i would pay for it)
if you have any questions i would be glad to clarify
(ps sorry for my broken english, it isn’t my first language)
Honestly I’d rather see this as an alt fire mode for the magnus, which, when hitting a part directly does deal less damage than its 5-star counterpart.
I’m also seeing possible performance and balancing issues with a full auto shrapnel gun that can stagger enemies and deals damage along the lines of an AI-76, since it would make the experimental pump-action shotgun entirely obsolete.

Let’s wait for the next update.
They said to change some things at the new experimentals.
That’s great to hear, I didn’t see that statement, but here’s hoping especially the KvM and Magnus get a little buff because both are currently performing rather poorly.
You know I had a thought.
So steel scrap is rather common, but let’s say you had an experimental weapon that eats certain resources as bullets rather than bullets itself.
If the AI 76 is modified into a weapon that can use raw resources, for example: lodging a lead plate where the magazine supposed to go!
It could just slowly eat up the plate as it fires rounds of torn shredded lead.
But also it would be cool if it could eat up other resources with different effect. Not including the flammable stuff like gas or plastics (maybe rubber because it’s funny)
What’s your thoughts?
Sounds interesting and could indeed be funny. I just don’t know if it’s even too crazy for a game like Generation Zero.
There would come other games to my mind first. Like a far cry for example.
But the idea really isn’t bad.
Use steel, lead, copper or aluminium, for example. Imagine the green muzzle of copper rounds fired from the gun…
It would be a good way to get rid of some ressources you don’t use in general. But on the other hand I don’t think most of them could really do much damage.
