Oh my word! Dual Purpose are as rare as rocking horse poop for me! I try to carry 16 rockets in total, but I’m usually down to three or four - the algorithm is random. It’s better now I’ve got salvage as well, since the Dogs drop them now. If I want .50 cal I have to kill a military tank (using something else, or you’re back where you started) or go shopping at Normyra for an hour. I often down to ten rounds or so. And that’s with both ammo scavenging perks active. I often get a 7.62 famine and have to use the SMG, even for Tanks, because I simply don’t have the 7.62 to engage with. It’s easy to think that it’s like your game for everyone, but it isn’t!
The blueprints I examine, but don’t really use - I don’t even carry binoculars - I use my weapon sights instead, as indeed I used to. I can see where the components are because they flash blue under fire. I don’t get close enough for gas or ticks, or concussion, so that’s reasonably irrelevant. Do you see? It’s different for every player and every strategy…
Well my .270 is 4* and my longest kill with it was 403 metres, which is just about pixel burn-out. If you can see it, you can hit it. I junked the .243 after the first island and went looking for the .270 in the ruins to the north-east. Long, scary old way it was (and me at level 5 or something), but worth it - lovely weapon. I’ve never seen a 5*. You do have to reload a lot and taking down tanks is loooong.
Slightly more punch at longer range - otherwise it’s just personal preference. I use a ag4 always - I don;t care if statistically it has less puch than the Ag5 (in this game) - I like its rate of fire and the sound, and i carried one (or very like it) in West Belfast in the 70s, so that’s my weapon. If you like the .243 go for it - the extra bullet in the mag is really useful.
But the AG4 does more single shot damage with lower fire rate than the AG5. You just have to control the recoil. Of course, mag size is lower, but that does not matter always.
Extended mag has 35 rounds, which is fine. It works best in continuous three-four round bursts - does much more damage that way, and you can control the recoil. With the SLR (basically same weapon) we used, from time to time (for fun) to jam the trigger sear wirth a matchstick so it would fire a full 20-round magazine in one burst, but at the end of it you were firing at the moon from five yards backwards…
