what i am saying is people i am talking to agree that this update should have tied all the knots together, the soviets and NATO should have been more involved in this update and nvm about the houses people want lore (also yes i know the crater was like filled in or whatever but like lore wise what did it look like)
Well, this hotfix was just to fix some of the issues of the showdown update (december 2024), which was the last real update for GZ. In total. The final one.
I agree that there are many gaps in the lore, but that’s what we’ve got now. It’s finished. There won’t follow new lore, updates, content, dlcs for GZ. It’s game over. Just eventually some more bugfixes of critical bugs.
Simple as that, there was no crater…

The crater was the result of the bomb, before it was just normal landscape with homesteads, undamaged houses and trees still standing.
The crater apeared with the Landfall update, because the Bomb was part of this part of GZ lore.

No. Not landfall update. I finished the story long before and already was down there long before landfall. I don’t know how it looked like before the crater was there, so I guess it must have come with farmlands revamp or earlier.
There i must contradict you. The first big revamp came with the FNIX Rising DLC. There was no crater at this time. After that before the Ukraine war broke loos there was the landfall update, and with that the Crater appeared. When i have time i will take i look i have my old save files from then so i can have a look before landfall and after landfall.
Update ! Got it. It was at the End of 2020 when the Reaper was introduced and broke free. Before the reaper was standing at the FOA 2 Bergfinken on Hjimfäll since that update he disappeared from there. I remember you could get the plan from the reaper at the crater. There was a laptop in the ruins that showed the reaper. I found this Topic . I rememberd that i had a chat with Deadwanderer. He is a boy from Ukraine and he posted that he had his own “landfall” we kno what it has meant. I found the topic above.
November 2020 Update:
Firstly we’ve continued our round of updates to the game world, and we expect many of you to very quickly notice more changes to the Farmlands region. It looks like something BIG happened there and has caused plenty of destruction.

Landfall update launched at febuary 2022.
I just know that I started playing short before resistance update which launched april 2021… Before base defenses and experimental ammo were added. And there the crater already was there.
Oh and the reaper was there when I player alpine unrest after finishing the main story at that state, too… At least when you entered FOA 2. It was suddenly gone when you left FOA 2.
It came the same time the reaper was introduced into the game via an update. That is why the blueprint for the reaper is in the crater. There was even a mission to go there if I remember correctly.
I may still have a save file before the reaper.
There are no leaks.
From the empty spaces on the empty islands you could see villages or an airfield were to be introduced there plus the roads.
That is all we know everything else we would need an actual dev to tell us,and most of them left the project 3 years ago or something when it was “finished”.
@Madchaser It was a generic empty grass field with nothing special there, there was a florest in the place where now…well we have destroyed trees and burning trees

i was hoping they were gonna show some plans that never made it to the game or something like that
There was no bunker, it was a normal farmland field.

Look I bought the game in late October 2019
There was no bunker there and there was no crater there.
The map had no “revamps” at the time
So yes…im actually correct.

I think @whatshisname refers to the collapsed bunker tunnels we see in the crater. They hint towards something larger and more extensive going on beneath the island. Before the crater was there, it was only farm fields and a small forest area. We had no idea then.
The team working on the Reaper and it’s backstory at the time wanted to show us more secrets hinting towards how the Reaper escaped and how the nuke helped it doing so by it escaping via the tunnels.
