First off - I’m having a lot of fun with the game. Shout-out to the devs - great job!
Next… my list of things I’d like to see.
- In the safehouse storage box (plundra?), please show the ranks/tiers of weapon attachments. I can hover over any weapon I put in there and see what tier it is (e.g. worn, good, etc.), but this ability doesn’t currently exist for attachments like scopes or suppressors. If I have 3 of the same scope, but all different tiers (or quality levels? not sure how to refer to that), there is currently no way to tell which one I am storing or pulling from storage. All you get is the generic item description. It’s pretty minor, yes, but it would save me (and I’m guessing others) a lot of guesswork and scrolling through inventory screens.
- Please let us stack items in the safehouse storage box that we can’t in our inventory. For example, 4 boomboxes takes 1 slot instead of 4, etc. Maybe I’m just a hoarder, but I run out of space in there fast.
- A hotkey to put on the gas mask.
Please. I’m fine with having the screen under the character customization tab where you can choose what color mask you want and all that, but please don’t make me go through several menus to put on a mask when I have enemies firing poison gas canister missiles at me. - This is much more personal, but I’d love to see some added depth in ambushes. Maybe remote-fired radios, flares, fireworks, etc. instead of just a short fuse once tossed; maybe some remotely-detonated explosives (note: this may actually be a thing in-game already that I haven’t come across yet - if so, please let me know, and thanks devs for reading my mind). I personally would like to see tripwire flares added - it would be a nice way to not only attract machines to an area, but also provide players with a sort of “early warning” system when they’re searching through an area.
4A. Connected to the idea above, I think I’d like to see stationary turrets in the game. Maybe a machine gun on top of an APC, or in a bunker overlooking an area, a mortar at a military installation, or a TOW launcher or similar system at an outpost near a road. Realistically, the Swedish military would’ve had resources like that available in case of an invasion. To balance this, have those turrets be stationary/in fixed positions. That way, in order for players to use them effectively, they either have to set up ambush positions near those emplacements, or engage enemies elsewhere and fall back to those positions. Frankly, I think it’d be fun. I know me and a few of my buddies would love to coordinate ambushes like that. - Personal preference again, but… can we buff the Granatgevär? I was so excited when I first got it, and then when I used it in combat, I was just so underwhelmed by it. Now, I get it - different tiers to level out the game, having to aim for weak points, etc., but still. In my first engagement using it, it took 5-6 rounds for the tank I was fighting to even stagger or show any sort of damage. The first round appeared to have done nothing. The tank shrugged off the next four or so rounds like it was nothing. I wasn’t expecting a “god gun” or anything, but damn, that was disappointing.
- I would LOVE additions to the soundtrack. I love what’s in the game now - it’s got the perfect style and 80’s feel to it, and even some of the general atmosphere/exploring tracks ramp up the tension levels a bit. Serious props to your composer, they nailed it, and I would love to have more (if possible)!
- I can’t accurately convey how much I would love to see a modding kit released for this. That would do wonders for the “shelf life” of the game and increase community involvement. There’s already a Nexus page for the game without modding tools, so we all know there’s people out there ready and willing to make mods - making it easier for them, and all of us, to create content for the game will open the floodgates, and I’d love to see what happens.
That’s all I’ve got for now - thanks again for making a very enjoyable game!
EDIT
Thought of another one…
8. Tracers would be great, particularly on the bolt-action rifles. There have been plenty of times when I’m using the Meusser or the Algstudsare where I just have no idea whatsoever where my shot went. I’m assuming there’s bullet drop, but I can’t actually tell - and without tracers or seeing where my shots land, I have no way to bracket my shots or dial in my range to target. Functionally, at a certain distance, it’s as if I’m not even firing a shot. I feel like adding tracers would at least give people a shot at longer-distance sniping.
