A shooter for non shooter people

I’ve never played a shooter before. I’ve tried a few but never really got into them. I’ve been playing mmo’s mostly for 2 decades. I don’t know what drew me to this game but I gave it a shot (ha ha) on the free weekend and haven’t looked back. I’m not a big gun person and I think the big reason I avoided shooters was the killing. I’m probably an outlier but I really appreciate the design decision to only shoot machines. Devs please never change this. Thank you for the wonderful, beautiful, exciting, challenging game.
P.s. as a person that grew up in the 80’s thanks for the clothes

Glad you like the game. I think the reason that I like this game and what draws in others likewise is simply the fact that it’s a familiar experience (first person shooter) but, with a twist. ( The twist being the machines) along side a story which at the very least seems moderately intriguing to most. Having played from all the main story I can tell you that you’ll never regret purchasing this game. Happy Hunting!!!

For me the beautiful countryside and the wonderful graphics in general play a major role. There are so many stunning moments of beauty and peace and quiet in this game. This on the one hand and the absolute menacing hell of death machines creates a tension (“Spannungsfeld” in German, don’t know how to translate best) which is absolutely unique for me.

Second what op said, it’s kind of refreshing. I do like traditional shooters but all the gore can get kind of old.

It’s a bit like ‘Left for dead’-series but with a more varied tempo. I like the tempo changes and the possibility to sneak around instead of a full frontal assault.

The landscape, the houses and the style used in the game is really original they have managed to keep it intact with no big errors. It really feels like Sweden in the 80-ies.

More like Dead Island now, I would argue, with the quest givers and looting of suitcases and all that.
