A spark of hope

So. We all know this game was great, underrated, and fun to play. That is, until the devs left a bad aftertaste in the last update, with no signs of life afterward. I’ll get to the point. I have started a new project that takes inspiration from when Generation Zero was at its peak. It’s in very early prototypes, and will likely take a while to make, as it is being made by a group of high schoolers. Here’s the story:

Our story starts in 2035. NATO countries begin developing military AI, along with blueprints for the AI to use. As they are being developed, Russia and it’s allies begin to become a threat because of an alarmingly high amount of nuclear weapons being built illegally. As NATO attempts to intervene, the USA AI (known as A.Z.A.Z.E.L) is sabotaged by a radical hacker and it overthrows the internet. It starts to escalate, and it breaks out of containment. It studies military strategies, classified and not, and uses the AI powered factories to manufacture its own robots, based on the blueprints that the military made. The military tried to stop it, but because the AI knew the strategies it easily beat them. Now that it has manufactured a small military, Russia and it’s allies take advantage and attack the US with nukes and invasions on the east and west coasts. NATO tries to fight them, but they are overthrown by their AI systems as well. Now, the government and what remains of the military hide in fortified bunkers, and this is where the tutorial starts. You play as an elite operative, where you are dropped into a highly important Intel area via helicopter. The TOC guy (Don) introduces you with the voice line “attention USGF, you are tasked with acquiring extremely valuable data. It is believed that it may be where the artificial intelligence enemy cam from. When you find the laptop, immediately extract. We don’t want any KIAs out there. TOC, signing off” USGF stands for USA Ground Forces. Also, when you and your team acquire the data, a Jackal enemy kills your NPC teammates and initates a chase scene. When you escape the building, the robot is stuck behind the heavy doors for a moment. You report to TOC saying (the radio is garbled and static-y now) “this is Seargent [STATIC], we just exited the building with the Intel but we were attacked. What the heck was that?!” “This is TOC. One of the bots was in there with you. We had no way of knowing.” “Well thanks to your real useful info I’m down 2 men!” "Easy, Sargent. We’re sending a heli[STATIC] to pick you up. See you soon."The helicopter appears and you attemp to extract, but the Jackal busts down the door and as you fly away, it follows you but when it can’t, it ambushs you when you’re refueling the helicopter. You do an emergency take off, but it shoots it down with a rocket launcher while the helicopter is barely off the city building. It crashes into an area surrounded by a perimeter of highly radioactive zones (map border). Now, you and what remains of your team must survive both robots and Russians, and some civilians act as traders. But, some went cuckoo and that’s pretty much the lunatic for you.
Thats the story so far. Much is to change in lore, models, etc. I can try to answer your questions to the best of my ability, and I know you’re wondering, “will there be experimentals? Will there be classes? What weapons are there? How big is the map? What will the map be like?” There will be experimental weapons, don’t worry. There will be many enemies with 2-4 classes for each. Some enemies will be small, some medium, and some would be considered a jealousy to FNIX. Weapons will include plenty favorites, like M249s, MG42s, Deagles, etc. The map will be large, focusing on urban combat, with potential small city areas. There are going to be human npcs, and human enemies. A certain famous Russian helicopter will be present, and have 2 variants, the second being significantly more dangerous. I could go into more detail, but I sadly don’t have time. Thanks for reading, and have a good day.

Have you a name for your project, or is it “A spark of hope” and is there any place where we can follow the progress? Did you know this forum is closing soon?

Instead of starting as an elite operative you should be like a helicopter mechanic who leans over the edge and accidentally falls out.

Closing down… it is?

Reason? I just wanted to ask a question due to new items to be found.
Or is there another way; map or

@Asphodelus, You could join our new place on discord that is made just for a little group, that madchaser started. Check the link below. It’s best you just join, even if you don’t think you use it much. If the link is expired, just ask Madchaser while you still can. There you can ask away.

The story could sound interesting… But don’t you think it could be a bit politically complicated in our times to create a game where russia invades the US? Btw… it doesn’t make much sense to nuke the US AND to invade it. And… An invasion needs preperation and planing. It’s not like “Oh, they’ve got great issues with their computer systems, let’s start an invasion.”

Well, of course every other big player could be the same. China would be very interesting, but that could be a problem, too. Same goes to north korea.

Yes, it’s complicated. These are dangerous times.
And although it’s fiction, it probably isn’t as far from reality.

I guess that’s why for example BF6 has an NGO as opposing faction.

So…what’s the goal of the game? Doesn’t sound like: “Your task (and it’s probably just you who is capable doing that!) is to defeat the AI, stop the russian invasion and rebuild the USA.”

The game will probably be named Demise, but still working on it. Like I said, its a very early prototype and the end goal is not yet clear. I have not set up anything to continue following along, as this has just started a couple weeks ago. If anything, this is just an anouncement that this is happening. I may set up a Discord server if I’m allowed to, but i’m unsure if thats likely or can happen soon.

Also Madchaser, you make a good point. I probably shouldn’t make the countries actually named USA or Russia, as thats a little too real and may recieve bad feedback about it.

Alright, I have permission to make a Discord server sometime soon and post the details here. I’ll let y’all know when it happens and either post a new topic or put it on this topic here. Whichever you all prefer.

Ah people will yell and complain no matter what you do, don’t let that stop you. (No offense Madchaser.)

Of course… But some have more influence than others… And if a company or a country doesn’t want to stand in relation to the media it can easily be blocked, forbidden, censored or what else. Bad reputation even before a game launched could already kill the project.

So the question is, to who are you reaching out with your project… The few who don’t care about politics and so on… Or to everyone who likes this kind of game (FPS for example).

Consider me intrigued! I would love to know more!

Thanks for letting us know!
