Ahead of the Pack: Apoc does not count for Tier 4?

So, I left mainland with 379 Runner Kills.
Killed a heap of Apoc Runners, which is a higher class compared to FNIX, but they do not add up to this challenge.
Is this a bug, or is this meant to be?
Logic would suggest… these would count, seeing these are of higher class…

Then again, the achievement DOES clearly say: FNIX only.

It’s a bit confusing for me… because Apoc is a higher class…

Either way, went back to main land to hunt and kill FNIX runners.

I actually hope that the Devs, if this is not a bug, but intended as such, will allow for Apoc to be included in said Tier of the achievement.

Thank you.

Here is your issue.

Also, it isn’t the only challenge where machine type and class is restricted to only one type and class of a machine. From the top of my mind: Combat Perfectionist challenge also has such specific restrictions. E.g Tier 2 needs that you kill 2x mil hunters without taking damage.

If there wouldn’t be such restrictions, the challenge wouldn’t be as challenging. Though, it’s strange to see such talks from someone who wants GZ to be harder, not easier.

Well, when considering the time when Ahead of the Pack challenge was added to the game (October '19 update), there were no apocalypse machines in the game and you could say it’s a bug that apo machines aren’t included in the challenge. However, since challenge says “FNIX only”, it isn’t a bug but instead intended feature.

So, man up and go hunt those FNIX doggos.:smile:

Well, APOC are a wee tougher, so…
Hoped before I went to Hjimnfall (SP?) that I could finish that part off there, good miss.
Tad more fun that way.

Oddly, on the main land, I get heaps of Hunters and up, but Runners are pretty scarce.
My Tick Achievement took half that time to complete, to give you an idea of what I ran into.
Quite brutally lovely, really…
Just makes it a bit hard to finish of the runner achievement, miss.

The thing with challenges, at least what i’ve seen in my game, is that when you need to find specific machine and/or gear, there is nothing around and it’s very difficult to locate any. But when you aren’t doing a challenge, there are loads of them around. Go figure. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Ahead of the Pack took me also the longest time to complete since it takes quite a lot of time to locate and kill 500 FNIX runners. With Pest Control, it’s far easier to kill 500 ticks since all you need to do, is aggro hunter or tank and enjoy the endless amounts of ticks they drop.

I hope FNIX Rising will spawn me a ton of there runners…

I went to a few towns where normally several runners reside… nothing.
Not even the North-East Light House had any, go figure!

It’s as if mech life after Beyond the Curtain ceased.
VERY bizarre…

EDIT: So I think you like it the way it is, or that they include the Apoc, seeing it is a higher class, harder to kill, gets included?

Well, there are some good spots for FNIX runners, if you know where to look.
Hint: Granhygget, among many.

This. Since it makes challenge more challenging.

While apo runner is supposed to be better than FNIX runner, it is so only weapons wise (if excluding RPG FNIX runner). HP wise, the both are same (as far as i can tell). And having only one option (FNIX runner) to complete the challenge makes challenge itself harder, than having two options (FNIX and apo runners).

Yesterday I played in the Mountains region, something I rarely do. I think I started at Hjalmars Stuga and cleared out the vallies down toward St. Anna Church and the shooting club, then I proceded through the valley leading to the military complex behind Klinte. All the way I faced almost nothing but FNIX machines, and lots and lots of runners. My tip for today will be to try this route. :slightly_smiling_face:

Of course, I can’t promise that you will have the same experience, but lets hope you do.
