AI-76 Vs AG5 Showdown

This has been discussed ad nauseam, and there is no reason to start another discussion. Well, no reason except IT IS AWESOME!

Here is my analysis:
Ammo: Advantage AI-76. That 7.62 is everywhere!
Damage: Advantage AG5. 8 Damage is 33% better than AI-76 with only a 10% reduction in rate of fire.
Scope: Advantage AG5. It can take the 1x4, which is a little better than the red dot. Neither is as good as the AG4 with the 4x8. Anyway, AG5.
Availability: Advantage AI-76. Pretty easy to get a 5 star model. AG5 seems more rare.
Handling: Advantage AI-76. With the red dot, you can empty the mag and hit your target 90% of the time, even far away.
Mods: Advantage Even. Both can hold 41 round, both take an extension or silencer.

Overall winner: I pick the AI-76 for the handling. Damage does not matter as much as hitting the target and I find I land way more rounds with the AI-76 than with the AG5.

That is my verdict. I know there will be some disagreement, and that is ok. As long as we all can still agree MP5>Kpist we can all still be friends…

I’d like to admit that while it’s up to each and everyone’s playstyle how they use each weapon, the AI-76 has always been a favourite to me.

I’m not sure what you mean when you say that the AG5 deals more damage, it is more accurate and it’s got good range with reliable recoil, but it’s still only caliber 5,56 compared to the stopping power of the 7,62 round.

And I like the Kpist better than the HP5… :smirk:

I carry both of them and when I run out of ammo in one I switch to the other.

I usually use the HP5 instead of the krispt, because of the higher rate of fire. I used the Krispt for a while before that, but personally my play style suits the HP5 better.

Well, it depends on the weapon you carry.

I run around with AG5 and find crazy amounts od 5,56 FMJ in almost every ammo container, and barely any 7,62.

This reminds me, I have noticed this as well. Does the ammo you find depend on what you are carrying? I noticed I found hardly any 9mm since I started carrying the Magnus. Is this something programmed into the game?

Using the stats in the wiki. It shows the special AI-76 as 6 damage, and the special AG5 as 8.

Yeah, the game catches up… It takes a few sessions, as though it’s not certain that you are serious.

I think the the ammo you find does depend on the weapons you carry. I am carrying a AG4 on single shot, a kpist on full auto, the gold .44, a Alg___ hunting rifle, and a semi-auto shotgun, I have collected so much ammo for all but the hunting rifle that about half my storage is ammo.

I assume there’s also a separate damage stat for each ammo type (to differentiate full metal jacket from armor piercing, or the three types of shotgun ammo). So perhaps the AG5 rifle deals more base damage but the 7.62mm round fired by the AI-76 has a higher damage stat than the 5.56mm fired by the AG5. So they end up dealing similar damage per shot at the end of the day. Not sure, just conjecturing.

Yep, that’s fully possible. There has to be some kind of statistic to ammo in this game, with having actual ballistics to all weapons. Would be interesting to figure out how it works.

I think there is something to this. My experience with the AI-76 is that it hits harder than the AG5, even though the stats show otherwise. Does anyone know how much a silencer reduces the damage done? Maybe that plays into this as well.

Apparently the suppressor does not reduce the impact (in this game) I saw something from the DEVs to that effect. They were saying somerthing like it used to but it doesn’t now. I’ve never noticed the difference and have abandoned my barrel extensions for silencers…
