Description: I’ve been playing GZ for years and today I was just playing it. However several minutes (before writing this) my game crashed and then when I booted it up again, it showed the end user agreement. Nothing else, just any other agreement then on the main menu I lost EVERY SAVE I HAD. Every items, progress, and so forth - Gone.

I kinda had the same issue right now, yesterday I was playing, did a couple of missions in the Mountain zone, and today I logged in. Turns out, all of the progress I made yesterday is gone, I spawned at the exact same church as I did yesterday, with the mission I completed uncompleted :(. Steam Cloud says it’s up-to-date. EDIT: Tried to progress a little to see if it only was a weird issue, same result, progress was lost. EDIT 2: Looks like Windows Defender started to block the path to the save game, recently. Weird because I never had such issue in the past, and I’m a Day One player with GZ.
See?! Im not going nuts XD. Legit I was wondering why i was missing a 5* AI-76 and so I went to a different save and did “Enemy of my enemy” to pick it up and mod it later. After logging out and attempted to switch saves, it crashed mid load and here i am.
I’ve been intermittently backing up my save file ever since it was corrupted somewhere around 2020-21. There were a lot of issues with crashes corrupting save files back then, and in my case a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) was responsible. They did eventually change their backup method, which is now supposed to restore the last session’s backup if the current save file becomes corrupted. Since I’m on PC I don’t take those chances anymore and just backup my stuff regularly.
Just had this happen to me twice in 2 weeks… super bummed. Did you reach out to avalanche at all?
