All the spamming lately

Got 12 crumpled then ran out of justice drops.

Same here I run out of ammo.
I just send another request for help to avalanche.

Good idea, I’ll do the same now.

At least they’re recognising our diligence!

In the highly unlikely event that the spam spirals out of control and the forum ends up being shut down, is there any way to safeguard or archive all the valuable knowledge and discussions you’ve all built here? I’m confident we won’t let it come to that, but knowing the information is secure would bring me a lot of peace to my troubled soul.

I just used all I could with my own account to take out the spam.

In seeing what Gysbert had done, I too created two new accounts and asked Zesiir if he could grant them the power to help flag as many spam as possible.

I also sent a message to Miles asking if there has been any update on the request for how accounts can be created by invitation. Of course both requests are in the air at the moment.

Hopefully we’ll get this down at some point! Like our survivors in GZ, we don’t quit! The spam machines WILL NOT WIN!!!

I’ve seen a few postings from newbies that in a naive and clumsy way are reaching out for help. I’m almost certain that it’s spam, so be careful here.

Well they said that eventually they were planning to stop with the forum. While they also said that they know there’s a lot of valuable information, and would look into downloading that to another location.

That looking into it, is a phrase, that has only meaning if they actually show the’re doing something.

I suggested as a temporally fix that they give admin right to the Mods so they can disable registration and enable it easily. Because real new members aren’t registering often. They could leave it off for 6 days a week.

I wouldn’t blame Avalanche for doing a cost/benefit analysis here. I don’t think that there is a strong business case for investing too much efforts in this particular forum. Perhaps it is a general issue with the platform that needs to be fixed, which would probably be another story then.

Let’s hope for the best and keep defending the base. Reinforcement might arrive :slightly_smiling_face:

That means everything coming from you bud!! Thanks! I hope it helps! :+1:

Yes, that’s what I am afraid of. But just stopping registration, what would that cost?

Just got out of ammo timer countdown only to discover that resupply was only two shells :exploding_head:

Two shells at 46 minutes, that is one shell every 23 minutes. That is no way to fight a war against spam :weary:

Yes, and that spider looks mean! :+1:

Do you think I should take the following steps if nothing changes within the next two days? I’m considering escalating this directly to Avalanche’s leadership chain of command. That would begin with the CEO, Stefanía Guðrún Halldórsdóttir, by contacting her through professional channels such as LinkedIn or by submitting a formal request through the Avalanche Studios Group website. The main contact options available to me that I can see include the official press and media inquiry form on their site, the general “connect with us” form which I’ve already tried, and the corporate email address info@avalanchestudios.se, which connects to their Stockholm headquarters. There is also a privacy contact email, dpo@avalanchestudios.se, which is intended for GDPR matters but still reaches the corporate office. Probably won’t use this. And as a last resort, their main phone line is listed as +46 (0)84 427 670, although I would prefer not to use it unless absolutely necessary given the likely cost.

Other senior leadership positions within the studio group include the CFO, CTO, Chief People and Culture Officer, and Chief Growth Officer. These roles sit directly below the CEO, and I could also attempt to reach them through the same corporate channels. I need to get names though.

In practice, I would start by submitting a detailed and respectful message through the official press or contact forms, explaining the urgency of the spam issue, the risk it poses to preserving years of community knowledge, and the lack of progress despite previous reports to live support. If there is no response, my next step would be a professional LinkedIn message to Stefanía, followed by attempts to contact other executives through Avalanche’s public facing contact points.

Do you think this is an appropriate course of action, or might it be going a bit too far? I plan to remain completely respectful and professional, but I want to avoid any potential negative reactions from ‘corporate’ that could impact this forum.

I would be careful contacting top management. I would expect them to be polite but very busy, and most likely they have no idea that this forum exists. At least, we should consult with @Zesiir and @MilesLexicon before escalating to that level, as they might still have strings to pull and information that we don’t. But it is, off course, entirely up to you.

But I’m obviously as annoyed about this as we all are.

Have you send @MilesLexicon and @Zesiir a message about bumping up your accounts?

Thanks, that’s good advice and I’ll heed it. @Zesiir and @MilesLexicon probably have insights or connections that we don’t. It’s just very frustrating at the moment! I appreciate the considered perspective
