“…FPS Boost is being handled by Xbox itself without the need for the games’ developers to go back and tweak anything. The feature will be added to games just like any other patch…”
Pretty please?

What does it even do? Download more video RAM?
Generation Zero on the Series X|S is running in backwards compatibility, with the console essentially running as an Xbox One.
We get faster load times etc. from the SSD but it runs with the same 30fps cap that all console versions do. It just never drops frames under load.
FPS boost leverages the extra RAM / GPU / CPU etc. of the Series X|S and doubles (or more) the frame rate of enabled Xbox One games.
It’s different to some publisher rereleases or games “optimised for Series X|S” as it is applied at system level by the Xbox itself, so doesn’t require a developer to change or remaster its game. As far the game knows still thinks it’s running at its original frame-rate.
Totally. I’ll gladly dumb down to 1080p if I can get a locked 60fps on Xbox Series X. But I’d love an official XSX update to go for a full 4K/60fps. Either one would shine a light on the game again and bring attention to it, which means more potential sales and players. It’s a win/win. Mentioned the game to a friend the other day and he’d never heard of it. FPS boost would raise awareness again.
Fingers crossed there would be no need to drop to 1080p to achieve 60fps on Series X.
Normally with FPS boost the Series X can run the XB1X version at the same resolution as last-gen but double frame-rate ** and GZ ran at 4k (with dynamic resolution scaling) on XB1X.
A native Series X|S version would be preferred, but tbh I don’t think Avalanche have the budget / team to support maintaining another codebase for the Series consoles, plus they’d have to do a native PS5 version too. Fair’s fair.
** Unless it’s a “Fallout” title.
