went back to the archipelago region today and noticed some of the houses that were originally open are now boarded up. perhaps it’s a performance thing since the area appears to be more populated with props.
Yes, there are boarded doors and windows, but many of houses can be accessed through open window, balcony, back door, etc.
I wouldn’t say this is part of optimisation, it adds dynamic to the region and allows for storytelling, like if youre in saltham, you can quickly notice the amount of panic in the village while the IPA was being sounded, they have also filled out new interiors like shops, a lot of the assets from alpine unrest have been transferred in part of the map overhaul

This is all part of the update making the world seem more lived in it has done this because they thought why would a village like saltham not respond to an invitation of robots of course people would boarder up and protect themselves.
I hope this answers your question it’s just a nice feature to show that saltham is more alive than its static older self
It’s definetly not performance its more of a storytelling and aesthetic? But aesthetic is a strong word, its to show more clearly the reaction from the people and the devastation they faced.
I do find the clothing laying around rather… odd. Its as if the people wearing the clothes were suddenly vaporized by a death ray…
Devs, don’t put death rays in, please!! I can’t jump fast enough to avoid those!!
