Best budget graphics cards for generation zero

So I have generation zero on Xbox one and pc. Sadly while the Xbox one version works fine the pc version runs about as well as an over inflated water buffalo. Everything is in slow motion and that sucks
I don’t know what graphics card my pc has and I’m not sure how to check but since I have a spending budget of $150 every 2 weeks I need to find a card that is both affordable and reliable

Any suggestions
I’m considering a Radeon 7750. Will that work?

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

  • OS: 64bit OS - Windows 7 with Service Pack 1

  • Processor: Intel i5 Quad Core

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics: nVidia GTX 660 / ATI HD7870 - 2GB VRAM / Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 580

  • Storage: 35 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

  • OS: 64bit OS - Windows 10

  • Processor: Intel i7 Quad Core

  • Memory: 16 GB RAM

  • Graphics: nVidia GTX 960 / R9 280 - 4GB VRAM

  • Storage: 35 GB available space

I don’t know much about graphics cards
Would the 7750 be less powerful or more powerful or something?

Me neither, but I suggest checking benchmark sites who do comparison of Graphic cards.
I found one you can check: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/

But I don’t think $150 will cut it.

If a Radeon 7750 is an upgrade for your PC you may want to consider upgrading the whole PC with a better one that you piece together.

Buy the case one week, motherboard another week, Power supply, processor, hard drive or solid state drive and so on. Each one, till you get to the GPU, would fit inside your budget for a fairly good gaming system, if bought one at a time. You will need to save a few weeks for the better GPU. By that time prices may drop back down to pre-chip shortage and covid.

The draw back is doing a ton of research to make sure everything will work together. But well worth it if you have more free time than money.

Since you don’t really know your system specs, I’d suggest you find out the basics - just open your task manager (assuming you’re on Win10) and go to the Performance tab. You can click on CPU, Memory and GPU, then just write down (or screenshot) the results of what is reported in the top right and maybe some of the info below the graphs, then post them here.

GPU (and other PC component) prices are at an all-time high right now, so getting a good deal is out of the question. Hardware shortages have driven prices through the roof, and even used GPUs cost more than their previous MSRP.

Speaking for me and my system: I’d wager any semi-recent quad-core CPU should suffice, and I’d go for at least 8 GB of RAM. As for the GPU, I run a (old by now) AMD RX 580 8GB, and I can’t max the game on a 1080p display. I presume the nVidia equivalent (geForce 1060 6GB) will do about as well. So I’d consider this the sweet spot for a cheapish good-enough GPU. You might get decent performance from cheaper GPUs by lowering most of the settings including resolution or settling for 30 fps, but then you’re better of with your console…

Hey! That sounds really frustrating, especially since the Xbox One version runs fine but the PC version feels like it’s in slow motion.

To figure out what graphics card you have, just open up Device Manager on your PC and check under Display adapters that’ll tell you exactly what you’re working with.

About the Radeon 7750, it’s a pretty old card and sits quite low in the current GPU hierarchy. It might struggle with games like Generation Zero, so it probably won’t give you the smooth experience you’re hoping for.

Since you’re saving $150 every couple of weeks, I’d suggest looking into something like a GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1650. They’re affordable, reliable, and much better suited for gaming nowadays. They should give you a solid boost without costing too much.

If you want, I can help you find some good options that fit your budget!

While you are being kind to the person, this was from 2022

The Radeon 7750 is outdated and likely won’t run Generation Zero well. For around $150, look for a used GTX 1650 or RX 580 they offer much better performance and should handle the game smoothly.

We have to seize any opportunity to keep this forum alive, don’t we ?
Shall I throw a proverbial cat among the pigeons and open up the discussion ?
I don’t get why people choose to play games on PC’s in general and on windows in particular. They are not designed for comfy gaming. When you install a game on windows, it will distribute its components over different folders. A .dll file here, one overthere and another where you do not expect it, etc…
When things go wrong and you or the patch or the update need to fix some obscure file, misery is yours. Macs are wiser : every component of a program and/or game go in 1 folder. But Macs and gaming is history.
Consoles are made purely for gaming. Never had any probs with games since I invested in PS.

Sounds like your issue is uh, you have no idea how to operate a pc  if you have had any of those issues while using a pc, you’re probably doing something wrong. Nothing wrong with using a console like a PS or an Xbox, you just have a lot more freedom with a windows pc, and you get access to just about any game that exists, including vr games, and if you find a good pc you can run games better at higher quality than even newer consoles. As far as the file issues it sounds like you had, it’s generally a pretty simple fix. If you’re playing games off most popular launchers, for example steam, there’s an option to verify files, which will usually solve an file related issues you’re having with a game.

This was meant to be a reply to the post above, whoops

Never heard that one before.
What is your nationality?

We can, but that wont make them repair the bugs or make extra stuff.

The cat among the pigeons is a popular British idiom among literates.

Never heard that one from a Brit, american or in movies.
Maybe its more of an older generation expression? Like those born before the 80s.
Im right?
Wrong?

At least that’s what gemini says:

“The cat among the pigeons” is a British idiom that means saying or doing something that causes trouble, creates a disturbance, or is likely to cause an argument or controversy according to Collins Dictionary and Cambridge Dictionary. It implies that the action or statement is unexpected and has a disruptive impact on a situation.
For example, in a meeting, if someone were to reveal a secret or express a controversial opinion, it could be said that they “put the cat among the pigeons”. The phrase originates from the image of a cat being released into a flock of pigeons, causing them to scatter in panic and confusion.

Yeh… yesterday I searched for it too, but never heard it from anyone in person, and dont remember hearing it on any movie or Tv series.
Seems more like one of those old expressions older gens used more and now nobody uses it anymore, there are some of those in multiple languages, including in my own (i bet german too madchaser).
