So after the last hotfix, I start the game, everything proceeds as normal until the screen with the cassette hubs and my account name, and… no name, and the cassette hubs just keep turning forever. Close game, restart. Same thing. Reboot computer, restart, same thing.
Uninstall any mods you may have had installed in the past. This is the most common cause of the Inifinite Loading upon starting up the game. If you definitely had no mods in the Games installation folder, then try verifying the files via steam or try a reinstall of the game, this one should be a last resort.
Last resort it is, because I don’t play with mods, and I’ve verified the file integrity twice. It has never helped. Looks like I need to uninstall and reinstall. Honestly, the PC version of this game is the red-headed stepchild.
I would believe 0L0 is on the right track. I wouldn’t disable my anti-virus for any game on Steam because there has been a few times hackers have pushed malware through a Steam update, especially for Rockstar games. I know all Windows installs are not the same, but I’m running 24H2, 26120.1542 (developer) which is an unstable version of Windows 11 pro. I think it’s your save file, because I’m having issues with mine (not game breaking) but the game doesn’t recognize that I pick up collectables, it’ll give the exp and show on the collectable screen but on the map it shows it still needs to be found. At some point, I’ll have to start a new save if I want to unlock all the achievements.
None of this worked for getting it to launch through Steam. I’m on the current version of Windows 11 Pro
(23H2, 22631.4112). All my drivers are up to date.
Have you tried going to the game’s settings file (Documents/Avalanche/Studios/GenerationZero), deleting and/or renaming it? Sometimes the actual game file can be corrupted. I understand you have uninstalled/reinstalled, but this is a touch different.
Yes, the settings folder is in the /Saves directory, and I saved and removed the entire thing. It auto-recreated a new one and still has the same problem.
I’ll add that I noticed that my account name is NOT being displayed about the cassette hubs, unlike normal, and the way it does on my Playstation (which is still working and playable).
I’ve noticed that, despite using the same Avalanche account, both platforms have different progression, which I find strange, but isn’t an issue, as I’m really trying to find ways to get the new game experience when I bring friends into the game to try it. What I do find annoying is that they don’t actually share DLC purchases. They used to. Not sure i like the double dipping.
