Are you using any mods?
No. I also did a fresh install with no success. I got the game from the microsoft store and not from steam if that helps.
Okay, good to know. There have been some reports of cloud sync messing with the game, any idea if that’s enabled?
I had a similar problem today, too, but on ps5.
My game crashed about three times western/south western of Östervik and after the third crash I wasn’t able to start the game to the main menu.
I had to delete my local saved files of the game. After that I was able to start. Next I quit the game and downloaded my last online savegame from the playstation cloud.
Then I was finally able to continue my game.
After every new installation it accesses some cloud data but i don’t know which ones and how i can prevent that since i can’t even get to the menu.
Someone said, deactivating the steam cloud should help, but I don’t know if it was regarding to this kind of problem.
I also had it today that my game crashed, I got the advice to turn off the Steam Cloud, unfortunately that doesn’t help because today when it happened, it was off, the only thing that helps is a backup of the game stick(s). /e in an extra folder, because it didn’t work for me until I deleted the save and copied it again.
It would be interesting to know, if possible, how much cloud memory Steam could free up for them because about 9.46 MB is too little, it seems to me, because every expansion limits memory. I have a train game, it’s 1 TB cloud storage, it’s probably more but Steam can’t or the developer may have requested too little, maybe it’s possible to increase this storage afterwards.
I can do what i want it’s not possible i have to wait for an update or say goodbye to generation zero.
Did you just try to delete this folder? (make a backup for sure)
%USERPROFILE% \ Documents \Avalanche Studios\GenerationZero\Saves\ \
After that the game should be cleaned and should start. Maybe try this while being offline.
If the game startet successful, quit the game and steam, copy your backup back to the folder and then run the game again.
I have always deleted the folder without success. And offline play doesn’t work the game always wants to be connected to the microsoft account otherwise it won’t start.
Maybe you can find something helpful over here:
