When looting especially big machines with much loot, while picking the items one-by-one, the list often re-shuffles which has the risk of picking unwanted items and leaving the wanted ones.

On occasion it does similar while recycling. One session I was recycling many weapons, and it was always scrolling up. I.e. the one underneath my selected item was moving up into the slot previously occupied by my recycled item.
Then it switched direction on me, moving my newly acquired EXP Meusser down into the previously occupied slot. Which I promptly recycled. 
And yes, there were still weapons below ready to scroll up for it to recycle.
