Right now, I’m using an MP5, experimenting with incendiary ammo, and a shotgun with explosive rounds, even though my build is more focused on pure explosive criticals.
maybe the new update coming out will allow for more builds in weapons that will help you.
I know if a 2nd plundra was added as a dlc it would sell out. I for one can never have enough ammo. Especially using all 4 characters. I end up rationing them to just barely enough or have to rely on the flamethrower or worse I’m forced to use melee and let the companion do all the shooting while I pray my ammo drops.(hopefully more then 1 round as well) Sometimes rng isn’t in my corner.
Anyone who is a PlayStation player, send me a message because there are a lot of things wrong in this game, especially missions where there are 3 tanks, and they waste a lot of raw materials. For those who have problems with raw materials for crafting, I can help with raw materials
How can tanks waste raw materials?
Or are you wasting raw materials for crafting something against three tanks?
Excuse me, but what’s the problem?
When I did the missions, we got less ammo than now by loot and world and crafting didn’t even play a role. You know, a few years back you had to find the crafting schematics in the world, which wasn’t as easy in some cases. And I’m not talking about experimental schematics. They came even later and where just able to be obtained randomly by doing succesful base defense missions in our one and only homebase.
And because the tanks I’m trying to kill are the black and red ones, extremely difficult even though I have advanced materials, and I end up spending them because I’m trying to create weapons to fight them, but I end up dying, and everything disappears.
You mean FNIX class tanks?
Well, maybe we can give you some advice to improve your combat experience against them.
In my eyes the FNIX class machines are the second easiest enemies. Yes, they are stronger in armor, but their weapons or their aiming are as slow, that it’s easy to dodge them.
First:
What’s your characters level, what’s your difficulty setting and which armament do you use?
I use a 6-star experimental MP5 that uses fire ammunition, a 6-star heavy machine gun with a heat bar, and a 6-star shotgun with explosive ammo. The only difficulty is that there are three of them, and they launch mortar missiles and shockwaves, not to mention the hunters that spawn in the midst of it all. I’m at level 28, with a fully upgraded combat specialization tree and the right side of the technology tree up to 100% more ammunition.
Ok, you don’t already have all skillpoints unlocked. Seems you also need some more training/experience in fighting the machines.
Just guessing, but you probably didn’t even went to Himfjäl (if you even own the Alpine Unrest DLC).
The weapons you use are an experimental AG4 (not a MP5, its counterpart is the HP5, a smg with 5c max) with 7.62 ammo, an experimental KVM89 with 5.56 ammo and an experimental 12G Shotgun.
Do you already have access to experimental ammo for them? Especially the experimental 7.62 shock ammo is a gamechanger… You can toast tanks in… Let’s say a very short time.
If you’re good in handling the experimental KVM89, have a high class extended magazine for it and enough ammo, it’s like a laser. But in my eyes it’s too hard to keep track of a special target while moving to dodge their shots AND keeping an eye on the heat bar. In my eyes it’s useless.
The experimental 12G (with birdshot ammo!) is good for close combat, but not worth to talk about while fighting three FNIX tanks.
I’m missing a granatgevär and a PVG 90 in your armament. With the PVG you can take out the tanks weapons easily, especially the mortars should be a primary target.
The granatgevär does much damage, but you shouldn’t just rely on it. It’s a good support weapon for doing areal damage (you can damage or even destroy multiple small targets with single shots) or for disabling some machines for a while (using EMP rockets).
Did you already find the FNIX tank blueprints to see their weakpoints through binoculars?
Nevertheless, keep on moving, use flares and/or fireworks to distract the machines, take out the explosive weapons of the tanks and take cover for their machinegun salvos.
Don’t just shoot them in the face. Try to concentrate on all the components that make blue sparks when shooting them.
- the energy cell at the back
- the face and on top of the head
- the legs, just above of their knees and at their “shoulders”
And if you use flares/fireworks and (at least medium) EMPs you can easily take out a whole pack of runners/hunters with just few effort… A few rockets, grenades or rounds of shock ammo…
I hope, this helps clearing the situation.
Def have to agree with @Madchaser on alot of points here. I have spent the better part of my first two months in the game in Archipelago (great area to make quick run through for med packs, adrenaline and ammo. takes an hour tops plus you will likely get a few Rivals too, bonus!) and farm the Farmlands till max level. you can easily run a route from the first safe house at the bottom up to the right side, hit the air field, fast thravel to the first safe house, run up then run the left side, then turn north till you hit the Boo church. by the time you are done at Boo church everything should have reset in Archipelago so you can exit to main screen while in Boo church and log back in and fast travel back to Archipelago and do it again. a couple days of that and you will have more med kits, adrenaline and ammo than you can use for a while.
as for the FNIX tanks in crowd control. I was just in a gun fight last night with 2 FNIX tanks 1 FNIX harvester and WAY to many FNIX hunters. I hate the hunters the most. they are way more accurate and deadly in my opinion. tanks and harvesters you just have to sprint left/right to avoid their attacks. use that exp AG4 with heat rounds effect. hit the weapons on the tanks and harvester. the heat rounds speed up their destruction. always keep moving. I try to get the hunters inbetween me and a tank/harvester that way we are both shooting the hunters. I am currently only using the exp AG4 (heat rounds) and the exp KVM 59 (shock rounds) and keep 8000 rounds on me since they both use the same ammo. so I am always ready for multiple long gun fights. I would personally put the exp KVM 89 and exp shotgun in storage. I am not a fan of either one of them. if you were a explosive spec build the shotgun would be more useful, otherwise its damage is underwhelming unless you are one on one with the big boys cause of its stagger effect. you have to get way to close for my liking for that gun to be effective.
OH… and always always always keep moving. if runners/hunters are in there they will try to flank you. if you keep moving that limits that. if you run a circle around them they will end up all bunched up together making them easy targets and they will shoot themselves…
