Bunker Map Feedback

I tried my hand at making a pdf of a scale sized bunker map. I started with the small Salthamn Bunker Safehouse just as a test

. Let me know what you think. I was able to figure out the dimensions using the map coordinates. Once I had a system it really wasn’t that difficult. Some of the bunkers are pretty big. Should I keep going with the rest of them?

Since forum theme is dark, your brightly colored image is hurting my eyes a lot. (I can barely read the black text in the bright blue background.) :confounded:

Other than that, your idea of mapping the bunkers is helpful to all who are having trouble remembering bunker’s layouts. :slightly_smiling_face: Though, you’ll face some trouble with later bunkers since those aren’t all at same level, instead go up and down stairs. How you show it on 2D map - is up to you.

Cool, I think is a great idea, but a challenging endeavor. I alway like to see community content whatever it is. It shows that you are really into the game. So I would love to see a complete bunker map.

Yeah, uh, that’s pretty much what I came for actually. Vesslan’s drivin me crazy. So, PLEEEZ DO. You can actually send me the files and I pretty em up a bit if you want.
As in up the graphics game a little, ya know. Could even make it look like an ingame item, actually, with map symbols n stuff.

What would help with the top down map making is to determine how long/wide are the hallway chunks and rooms that the game uses, then create a template pieces for everything and after that it’s just putting pieces together like jigsaw.

Doing that with a 3d editor (Sketchup is super easy for beginners) should make things a lot easier to do when the pieces snap together and it’s easy just ctrl+c/v.

How about INGAME map?
A map that changes the level layout as you change level, should be fairly easy to do?

First I was thinking ”Yes! Bunker maps!”
But then i started thinking ”Hey, isn’t that tedious and frustrating wandering a part of the game In some weird way?”

Good idea though! It would be interresing to see if I could keep myself from looking at those maps…

Then why not remove all map parts? :stuck_out_tongue:
No more world map, just wandering aimlessly, remove compass too, brilliant.
JK there!!!
Besides, it would be with Fog of War, so the bunker reveals itself as you wander through.
So, you still have to search the bunker in order to reveal it on the map.
The map would be so, that one can choose in the bunker, whether to display World Map, or Bunker Map.
Best of both worlds?
Also, no one twists your arm to use the freed from FoW map.

Thoughts, sir?

Because I am finished with story and challenges, but can’t really quit the game, I am roaming the game world and logging everything (well not everything) what I come across in the game. A map of bunkers that also show points of interest would be useful, but also a nice community item. I have fun just gathering info and making notes of where I saw that, until a new expansion is developed.

Marvelous, I think, when you completed the map, MANY will download it.
However… we were actually speaking of the bunker interiors, my friend.
Still, that is a MARVELOUS idea, I cannot wait to see the result, should you choose to share this work with the rest of the planet.

Truly brilliant!
Good going, there, good sir!

Well the Östertörn geography would be known to a local line our protagonist (the world map) but top secret military bunkers wouldn’t be…

I gotta say I dont mind bunker maps at all, I just don’t know if I would use them (initially). I some sick deprived way I think the maze thing adds to the game.

@Kompani_Iboholmen

Well, like with the Bunker Map, you’re not forced to use it.
I would love to get my hands on a “complete” map, sir, simple because, even after gaming GZ a year long, I just know I missed stuff.
To get to this overlooked, missed stuff would be a nice thing.
So, yes, I, myself, am looking forward to it.

And why not?
As for me, even though I had played the game “for centuries”, I still get lost in some of them, often missing not important, but still fun stuff, sir.
The FoW for instance would help ME a lot, since I then can see what I missed.

But like said afore: it should be optional.
So that people, such as yourself, good sir, do not feel cheated upon.
I always have been against FORCING stuff upon people, that just is NEVER good.

Thoughts anyone?

I am not making a map myself, I just get pleasure by logging the things I encounter in the game. But I would welcome bunker maps as a community item.

What???
But… but… you really should… :stuck_out_tongue:
I order you to!

Pwetty pwetty pwease, sir?

Well OP seems to be on it, after all

Anyway, for an ingame bunker map, instead of FOW, why not make it an item to be found in the bunkers -let’s say three per bunker, so the chances are better (maybe even link the number of spawns to difficulty), but in places where you only find them when keeping your eyes open so it ain’t just pushing a map in your face?

Edit: A model with map pieces could then provide a solution for using bunker maps in logging what’s been explored.

Issue is for consoles, if not ingame, many will not be able to call an external one up.
On PC with more than one monitor, it is no issue, still.

Also, an ingame one, as per I suggested, would swap per level on the map as well.
Thus, one does not need to go external, swap to a new map drawing, and then hop back ingame again.

Thoughts?
