After spending a lot of time on this game, trying to figure out what causes the “random” crashes and not getting any (valuable) response, here is my best guess what’s happening:
Anybody remember “MGS 5 - Phantom Pain”? On release it didn’t even start on AMD CPUs, because the game required certain “CPU instruction sets” only supported by Intel CPUs. The game simply was never tested on AMD CPUs, but eventually a patch was rolled out to fix the issue. (I know, because I’ve been there and did my research)
Avalanche is most certainly developing the game / engine on a set hardware configuration and simply doesn’t have the option/capacity to test every hardware configuration that’s technically within the minimum specifications. If you have an odd chipset, theoretically outdated CPU/GPU, some random mouse driver (…) they simply don’t know about the issues, because they had no way of testing certain hardware/software configurations.
To avoid this kind of crap you do Beta tests before release, but for some reason GZ was rushed. In essence we’re all still playing a beta version, even though this is supposed to be a full release. Just have a look at all the genuine issues on this forum and you’ll realize it’s NOT a finished product.
If you feel misinformed or betrayed, you’re absolutely right. This game is NOT ready for a full 1.0 release and the Steam/Xbox/PSN page doesn’t reflect that!
Some day a patch might come out to fix the issue(s), but there is nothing for you to do except sending ALL crash reports an being a nuisance about it.
And just a friendly reminder towards Avalanche: If you release a broken product, at least allow us to skip the “intro movies”
I’ve spent a lot of time on trying to help you and your customers. If I see “Avalanche Studios” every time I need to restart the game to test something (and getting nothing in return) it’s just reminding me that I should’t trust “Avalanche Studios” in the future.
