Did I mess up by not finishing the original story line?

Just a quick question for those of you who have played the game longer. I recently came back to the game and haven’t finished the basic story line nor have I explored all the areas. So, did I mess up by installing the first DLC? Did it cover up something that I should have done before getting the DLC?

1st DLC is Alpine Unrest and you can easily keep yourself away from Himfjäll since it’s on another island. “Not Alone” is the mission that starts the Alpine Unrest DLC story.
