I’m playing on guerilla with a new character that doesn’t have any armour skill upgrades and noticed that I’m regularly knocked down from 100 to 8 health points with one shot (2 pts in the health skill). So I decided to upgrade her armour with some 5 star recipe’s I have.
However, after the upgrade I’m still getting knocked down to 8 points of health with one shot, so I’m wondering if the rail gun ignores armour?
It would make sense since they punch through walls. I haven’t figured out a way to test other forms of bullet damage, but for sure I don’t feel tougher even with clothing armor upgrades.
I always have the feeling the apparel crafting still doesn’t work as intended.
Maybe it’s just the damage type. The hunters pvg doesn’t do most of its damage by the bullet, but by the supersonic splash damage (at least I call it that). Therefore bullet resistance has no effect against these weapons.
Btw that’s the reason why we get hurt even if we’re in cover… Not the bullet goes through the walls or objects, but the splash damage hits us.
I didn’t have enough materials to make a complete 5 star set but I got my explosive rating to 32 and still the same results, FNIX Hunter railgun shots knock me down 92 points of health.
Same results with a full kit of bullet resistance and one mixed with other protections. All result in 92 points. I’m going to try 0 protection and then test against a military hunter just to see if this is a FNIX Hunter thing alone.
0 armour = knocked down to 8 pts health,
full 5 star bullet resistance kit across the board (40 resistance) knocked to 8 pts health,
and almost all 5 star explosion resistance kit across the board (35 resistance I think) knocked to 8 pts health.
That’s with a military class Hunter this time BTW. Seems like the damage output is the same.
However, bullet resistance seems to help a tad against Proto Tanks, I survived a 4 hit burst with a full bullet resistance kit with 8 points remaining, but got walloped with a 4 hit burst when wearing no bullet resist armour. More testing is needed to confirm that though.
This leaving 8 hp looks lot a like games rubber-band system for player damage. Keeping player not dying from instant, making player feel fighting for life.
This can be easily noticed with multiple Apoc runners. Let multiple runners shoot you, you start rapidly loose HP, but it will drastically slowdown when nearing low end of HP’s.
When one single hit with guerilla difficulty can easily cause 50% loss of HP. couple of hits should kill player, but will leave you barely alive.
But again, independent off what kind of damage the snipers do, I still think that apparel crafting doesn’t work as intended for these resistances.
I can’t imagine that on skirmish it’s normal that a single hunter salvo (automatic rifle) can almost kill you.
Actually my character has a total of 30% bullet resistance. Often a Hunter that hits me reduces my full health to below 50. Without the resistance it should almost kill me with a single hit. I didn’t test hit, yet, but is it true?
I have to agree. I haven’t done any specific testing. You and others seem to have more solid numbers to offer up here. But I changed my outfit just for laughs the other day. Didn’t bother adding all the resistances back to the new stuff I put on. I honestly didn’t feel feel any perceivable difference in terms of the damage I was taking. I technically should have been taking a lot more damage without high bullet resistance, but it didn’t feel like I was.
I’ll conceed that this was very subjective on my part and not a very scentific opinion in any way. But I just feel I should have been taking far more damage performing the Leroy Jenkins charges on large groups of machines without my normal bullet resistance. But damage didn’t really seem to be any worse without all the armor protection.
Don’t confuse the hunters experimental pvgs with the tanks railguns. They are completly different weapons.
Btw I just had it once that a tank killed me from full health with just one shot of his railgun (skirmish). I just didn’t hear it and didn’t move for just enough time to get hit with a full load.
Most time, if they hit me, they don’t hurt me much because I’m too fast out of the line of fire.
Im talking in Guerrilla.
In skirmish they dont kill me at full health, maybe you were close range, had less armor, or maybe it depends which part of the body is shot i dont know.
Anyway im just stating what it does, i guess no one really knows what percentage of armor protects or not.
I were looking to get some footage for an Issue which I’ve tried to capture footage of for a while…
I found The harvester where i first encountered this issue
but i needed to take of some Adds a Military Tank (Mortar and Missile pods) 4 Apocalypse Hunters, 2 Military Hunters and some runners.
While destroying the extra machines, one of the Military Hunters with a Sniper landed a direct hit on me, which got me down to 13 from 100 HP.
(This on Skirmish)
I have 100 HP (not 110-130) and 20% Bullet resistance and 20% Explosion resistance
If I’m hit by a Hunters Sniper it gets my health down to 8-18 HP if i have 95+ HP
If i have less then 90 HP I’m dead if it hits… which is how it’s been for as long i can recall… <.<
I have no idea what the damage type for The hunters Sniper Projectile is, is it by chance “Impact”?
Which we can’t Apply yet, It’s not on the back of the Recipe magazines nor in the Apparel crafting stations (you can look for yourself if you want).
But we can see it part of the Resistance listed it in the Profile tab (Shield with Lighting).
I have also had a Tank a few days ago 1-shoting with Railgun while i had 100 HP o.0
it shoot me in my behind…
I didn’t see nor hear the Tank come up from behind me while i were i destroying a Harvester and it’s Hunters and a Seeker (figures…)
Till the shot hit me and got be down to count and turned the camera around and saw the Tank in the distance <.<
Guerilla difficulty explosion resistance from personal feeling works, i am able to surive eplosion and rocket salvos easier just with 20% explosive resistance. Usin 20/20 bullet/explosive crafted clothing.
But i might do some testing to this. HP’s are hard to calculate if you take increased health skill. All testing should be done without that skill to give more inline results.
the damage increases alot from high damage single target if increased difficulty. go test the weaker damage weapons from enemies. like the tank with the gatling gun. theres an reason why you get sniped because not moving. thats why all types of tanks (beisdes apocolypse) can force the player to use alot medkits if hit by railgun or hunters railgun.
resistance damage main reason is to reduce damage from small damage ammounts or missle launcher.
Made some quick preliminary testing. Reset all skill from character. Only used clothing with and without crafted bonuses to testing purposes. Testing enviroment was cleaned all other subjects than 1 machine left and tester itself (thats me). And guerilla difficulty.
I definetelly agree that you got something here.
Tested without any crafted bonus on clothing. Military / FNIX class hunter railgun hit took me down to 10 HP every time i let them hit me.
Searched all clothing with impact resistance, only could get up to 4% (this cannot be crafted). No difference, which might be lost in rounding of numbers and guerilla difficulty. 10 HP left after every hit.
40% bullet resistance clothing, same thing. 10 HP after every hit.
This is interesting part. Character with health skills and armour skills. I end up allways in 8 HP. So why character without any skill reductions and health increases take less damage on same difficulty level.
That’s real testing and good documentation.
Thank you very much for sharing that. @Avalanche_Pontus, could you please take a look at that?
@Lonewolf could you expand the tests by cloths with the other resistances?
And I think it would be good to have a counter-test-session with another machine/weapontype.
Made quick test to explosive resistance. 1 red gas canister (not fuel cell ones which machines drop). Used 0% and 40% explosive resistance.
0% 100 HP → 40 HP
40% 100 HP → 64 HP
And calculation confirm that that explosive resistance works.
Then proceed to blow up 2 cars with same setup.
0% 100 HP → 15 HP
40% 100 HP → 52 HP
Both times i standed on the hood of the car while shooting down. This test gave little difference. And math didnt confirm result like in earlier.
Made both test only once, so there is huge possibility for RNG causing errors. If there is variance in explosion damage itself.
Did some bullet resistance testing too, but couple quick tries got me every time killed. So no results. Have to little bit plan this and think testing scenario how to do it.
And need to oberseve more that hunter railgun hits with fully skilled up character, and soak up some hits.
EDIT: Seems to be i have made some errors. Crafting update changed clothing bonuses and some of my clothing had reverted back to quality 2 or 3 stars.
After correcting this small error in, and was playing daily assigments. Hunter railgun hits leave me 15 HP when fully skilled. So at least health skill seems to work. That railgun damage is unknow type, and i think there is no protection against it. Only keep moving like paranoid during combat, because some machines is aiming at you.
