EARLY IMPRESSIONS: Fantastic!

I think the reviews raise some valid criticism of this game - but maaaan there’s a lot about this game that is really great!

The map, the graphics and the atmosphere are really really good!

So far the game is smooth and user friendly UI.

The combat is also pretty satisfying and weighty.
Could do with a melee attack though.

What’s here is really solid. I also like how the game doesn’t hold your hand and allows you to investigate clues/information and follow landmarks and honest intuition to find where you need to go. It’s refreshing!

My only complaints are —

  1. Avalanche ! You should of doubled down on the survival theme of the game! This game should be Day Z with Robots! You should have to scavenge for food, drink and find safe places to sleep! It would of added another layer to the immersion and also give more purpose to your actions.
  2. be nice if the Robots could enter the houses, because it doesn’t seem like they can. Kills the tension when you realise that. They should be smashing down the door and have you jumping out on the roof to escape…

I hope Avalanche plan on supporting this game, it has huge potential.

Walleftw will you stop posting on every thread? It’s not helpful. I get that you lost all your stuff and that sucks. But this is not the way to go about this. You have to know that they’re not going to fix all these bugs overnight.
As for Lamoi. I agree there’s so much about this game that’s awesome. But I disagree in the aspect of survival. I think it would slow the game play down way too much. I think that’s the worst part about Day Z which was an epic failure in my mind. I couldn’t imagine having to find even more space in my inventory for food and water let alone having to constantly be stocked for long journeys. This game is perfectly fine without it.

I find (for me at least) well implemented survival mechanics can makes games so much more immersive! It gives another layer of meaning to why you would scavenge.

I’m not asking for ARK, or CONAN, because I find games like that are just tedious.

But I loved FC PRIMAL the SURVIVOR MODE. It gave meaning to the hunting and purpose to so many of the games tired systems like never before.

Even RED DEAD 2, it aided the immersion greatly.

I think it’s simply down to balancing. Not so punishing that it makes it laborious. But significant enough to give the player another objective when scavenging.

Yeah I can see that. And I love survival games. I was hooked on Conan for a long time. That game was just missing something huge, missions and a storyline lol. But imo, I really do think this game is perfect without it.

Because as the game stands — there’s alot of repetition.

I want to SURVIVE in this world!

It does become another town, same 6 enemies… and you’re scavenging essentially only for ammo the entire game.

Food and water would give another reason to explore and investigate this great world.

Yeah definitely see your point. But the game does get way more difficult. I’m not sure how far you are in but the enemies get a lot harder. I do wish there were more machine variations but for now it’s still pretty fun.

I’m still early on I reckon.

Is the game viable in solo? I’ve read a lot of reviews complaining of balancing issues when played in solo…

It is possible to solo this game. At least to the point that I’m at now. But it is pretty difficult. I definitely advise playing with friends, at least one other. It makes the game more exciting when coordinating attacks and explore bunkers. I was playing by myself today and I got attacked by six hunters and it was very difficult to take them down but I got it.
