Shooting for #1 place!
Thanks for that link. I notice it is by far the #1 among the Bug Reports in that list. Again thank you for the link.

Over christmas I tested something else - I bought Elder Scrolls Online via Steam. Just for comparison - I`m running Elder Scrolls in highest possible settings, everything on highest / ultra… and it never crashed so far, no errors at all… my longest session was about 9 hours with about 1h of idle-time in between. What shall I say? Absolutely flawless!
Please devs, the problem MUST be in your code, not in players systems or configurations! Make fixing these issues first priority! I really wanna enjoy Generation Crash ;-)) without crash…
Would you perhaps care to check what FPS you are getting on Ultra? You could limit your FPS to roughly that number and see whether that helps as well. It might be the skipping of buggy low to mid tier effects/settings or the overall reduction in FPS that does the trick.
Platform: PC (Steam)
Description: Game will crash at random times (sometimes within 30 to 60 minutes, other times within 10 to 20 minutes).
I bought this game during the Steam Winter sales and have had nothing but crashes.
After the game was installed, I played for about 30 minutes. I got to the dock with the large lake, and the game crashed.
I restarted it, was able to get inside the church (solo and complete stealth, didn’t engage combat). So far, it was good.
I did a few fights against the Runners, went further north, accidentally agro’d a Hunter, and died.
After respawning, the game crashed shortly after when I ventured out again. This time I got about 50 to 60 minutes of gameplay.
I started the game up the next day, played about another 30 minutes (had a friend join me about 20 minutes in).
The game crashed like 6 to 10 minutes after he joined.
I restarted the game up, and he rejoined me, I got about 10 to 20 more minutes before the game crashed AGAIN on me.
It’s getting very annoying with all the crashes and no reason why. 4 crashes in 2 hours as frustrating.
My friend hasn’t had many crashes, and he’s played over 70 hours.
Steps To Reproduce: I honestly don’t know how, as I just try playing the game. It seems to crash at random spots and at random times for no real good reason.
Images / Videos: I don’t have any pictures right now, but I can take a picture of the Windows error saying it crashed (including the Event Viewer of what it says about the game when it crashes if that will help).
Host or Client: 2 of the crashes were when I was solo, 2 other times a friend joined me. It seemed when my friend joined me, and the crashes seem to happen much sooner.
Players in your game: Me when I was solo, a friend of mine (Tyme) when I tried coop (for him to join me).
Specifications: Since I know people will ask my hardware, this is my specs below:

- Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (4.0 GHz)

(I’m not sure how detailed of hardware specs you need, so just posting them all.)
Note: This game is on my 1 TB SSD.
I know this is older DDR3, but it will be a while before I can upgrade as I will need to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard, RAM, CPU cooler all at once (which will cost me about $1,000 for what I have in my wishlist).
And I’m not upgrading to Windows 10 yet UNTIL I get the new hardware (which won’t be for a while).
When the game crashed, it was just a Windows popup saying:
"GenerationZero_F.exe has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
- Check Online for a solution and close program.
- Close the Program."
Obviously, Windows won’t ever fix the problem. I looked over both the problem details, but nothing jumped out at me at the cause.
Even looking up the crash in Event Manager didn’t have much, I could make sense of it.
I’m not sure if it even submitted crash reports (I think I enabled that option).
If anybody needs any further information from me about my crashes, I can provide screenshots later on of the errors if that might help.
And yes, I made sure all my drivers were up to date (my GPU driver is the latest).
I’m also not sure what ingame settings I had my graphical settings at when making this post, but I can check later on. I think they were all on High, but I’m not positive.
This has been a noted issue @JediMaster80. The Devs have been notified on the issue and are looking into fixing it. This has been an issue among all platforms. @pegnose and @Zesiir as well as the Devs and other mods will confirm this.
Unless you’re having crashes with other software don’t knock yourself out trying to second guess your setup. Even where people have identical hardware some crash and some don’t. Never hurts to run a few tests to make sure your rig is in tip-top shape but you can have absolute perfection and this game can still behave that way due to whatever is wrong with it that only the devs have the power to solve.
yeah, yesterday the game ran fine for about 6 hours till it finally crashed. Today we are back to counting minutes.
I haven’t been able to get more than 3 minutes at a time since going to Pay to Play island. I am just about to the point of giving up starting it anymore.
Been nearly three weeks now since I’ve been able to play, already deleted the game and moved on. Best of luck!
Nice one… not…
I guess it got me, too now, since Saturday the game started to crash on various occasions and after various playtimes… meh
Hello all I missed yesterday’s stream they did not post it on Twitter so I forgot about it. If anyone watched it did they mention these crashes at all?
Thanks,
SPP
Yes, they said that they take crashing seriously and they’re working hard on fixing the bugs. I think they also said that they hoped there would be a lot of fixes in the next patch.
That was all on that topic.
One fun thing though, pontus got surprised by a FNIX hunter teleporting into the house he was using for shelter.
LOL…I missed that funny…Darn! Thank you for the updated information & that is great to hear!
SPP
They didn’t happen to mention a fix for this specific nuisance?
@pegnose Tbh, Mat and Pontus weren’t really very familiar with the game and Mat could only give the usual “we know there are bugs are we’re working hard on them”. With the hunter they speculated it had done a jump attack and come through the ceiling, but that’s not what happens. Do we need to do another community investigation / bug report for them?
I was in a barn somewhere… No way I’ll recall exactly where at this time. It was definitely in one of the northern areas. It is a place with two barns perpendicular, and a rather large pond nearby and always seemingly in the path of Harvesters. No matter. The particular barn I was in was of the two-level variety with a ramp on the outside coming up to two large doors. It is also a safehouse and the Plundra is downstairs.
In any case I had attracted the murderous desires of several Hunters, seekers and dogs. I had all the doors closed. One of the doors was set slightly ajar as some often are and they are nice to be able to shoot out of. Wish you could set them that way in game yourself but you just have to find them that way. Anyway the door I was shooting out of was on the second story with no ramp leading up to it and the doors at the top of the ramp were completely shut.
But one by one, each Hunter kept appearing directly behind me about where the stairs are. I have no idea how it happened. When I would kill one, another one would appear there. They would not appear when I was facing but only when I had my back turned. I tell you it’s quite an upsetting thing to turn around and see one hovering over your head in a dark barn when they are supposed to be outside.
So this happened three… no I think four times. I’d kill one, a few moments later the next would appear.
No idea how that works but it’s dangerous and could give someone a coronary.
Osmosis is diffusion through a semi-permeable membrane. The rate of osmosis depends on the concentration gradient.
I was just thinking about this for a bit… My game never crash when joining others in their game. Has never happened. I only crash on my “own” game.
Imho, that rules out any hardware related issues, with one possible exception - when I play “my game”, I’d guess it’s my computer doing all the background calculations, so that could of course be a factor to consider. However, that seems very unlikely, so for the crashes most of us seems to experience (the combat related ones), we can be 99% sure this is game related only.
I had weeks of crash free gaming (hosting, playing solo), then I got into a crash-fest of gigantic proportions (almost every tank killed led to a crash, most likely related to rivals). I then disabled all overlays (MSI Afterburner), and had a good few weeks of crash free gaming, so I thought - hey, Afterburner must have been the cause!
Now the crashes are back again, I can to a certain degree anticipate when they’ll happen - ALWAYS after combat, in some regions. These regions refuse to spawn rivals, despite high region level and score.
It’s related to some of the data saved in our saved game progress for sure. Sometimes, it feels it can clear itself up, and then return yet again.
As for other players that seems to crash no matter what - how’s thing working out for you guys when you join others?
How about you, @SkEyE? Can you play the game if joining someone else?
