Extreme Stuttering After Internet Loss

Platform: PC(Steam)

Description: Yesterday i was playing the game normally on Ultra settings, no stutters or anything, but a rain shower passed overhead and knocked out my internet. I was still able to play with little issue, but it started freezing for a few seconds every time i tried looting anything so i got sick of that and decided to close and relaunch the game… now however the moment i launch the game i can tell its running fine bc the cogwheels that indicate loading spin normally but the moment it connects to the Apex Account my frames instantly drop to single digits(closer to 1-5 fps as it looks like the cogwheels begin jumping to new rotational positions instead of spinning smoothly and the banner on the main menu scrolls very jumpy) and it becomes VERY noticeable the moment i load into the game fully as it becomes a literal slideshow with no resolution.

Extra notes: i have tried reducing all settings to their lowest settings and even disabling several settings to no avail, verified integrity of files in steam to see if any corrupted there were none, even ran a memory test to see if my RAM sticks were experiencing any issues but none existed. Leaving me to believe the issue comes from connecting to the Apex Account upon launching the game(launching in Offline Mode on Steam does nothing as the game still connects to Apex).

Steps To Reproduce: literally just launch the game and wait for it to connect to the Apex Account.

Images / Videos: none to provide as i have uninstalled the game and am currently waiting on it to reinstall.

Host or Client: Host/Single-Player

Players in your game: 1(me)

Specifications:
CPU: Ryzen 7 4700g
GPU: 1660 Super(6gb ddr6 memory)
OS: 64 bit Windows 10
RAM: 64GB ddr4.
All necessary drivers are up to date.

Update: uninstalled and reinstalled and the issue is still persisting. I have tried launching the game in windowed as well to no avail. Yes i have disabled Steam overlay and disabled the recording feature for Xbox to record in the background. Only overlay still active is the Nvidia Geforce Experience overlay which allows me to check FPS while in game and i verified fps starts at 70+ but the moment the game performs its online login it falls to 3 fps in the 99%.

I have also attempted to launch the game completely offline(disconnecting my internet) but if i do it just fails to respond and crashes.

I know it isnt a “low core count” issue as my Ryzen 7 has 8 cores(far more than the requirement) and my 1660 Super is at least 3 times more powerful than the GTX 660 requirement. So i am unsure what could even be causing this unless the games performance is based on the connection the Avalanche Apex Servers…

I have a recording but its in mp4 format which is not acceptable for your forums.

Bit surprising no one has even responded yet.

It’s the winter holidays in Sweden, weekend and it’s literally New Year’s Eve. So there might not be many tech-savvy people online (devs especially) to answer.

But I can try poking somebody about it on monday, see what happens.

Hey its all good, i was just noting how surprising it was, didnt intend for it to come off as shade!

But yeah ive tried literally everything that i can on my end. At this point im okay with deleting my save data and my Apex Connect account if it might help resolve this. Would just rather not lose 30+ hours of progress if i dont have to ya know.

It doesn’t sound like it should be a save game issue, but if you want to backup your current save and try a new one, go ahead.

figured id go ahead and include an image in the thread since i cant upload my video. the fps being at 12 is a bit misleading as the 99% is only 3 which is where it typically stays. Even if i load into a save game fully and try, as best i can, to move around.

and as you can see from cpu and gpu utilization both are barely near 20% and render latency is under 50ms so theres no desync happening

i was hoping since today my internet data reset meaning my speed will return to normal that id be able to play but it would seem the issue is persisting even through that. so now im officially at a loss.

also commenting this to inform: i installed Gen Zero thru GamePass on PC and i can run it just fine, no stuttering at all. even after the online login. So it does seem to be limited to the Steam side of things from what i can tell. but like i said there are no corrupted files according to Steam and ive tried everything that ive found on Google that has worked for others.
