I’d like to brainstorm about possible new attachments.
First of all:
We need the possibility to attach under-barrel attachments. Not for each gun, but
Second:
Instead of having just different qualities of attachments it would be nice to have a greater variety to chose from.
Like the skins for the guns there could be different looking scopes, silencers, magazines and so on for each quality to make the guns have more personality.
Third:
Now with a new slot there could be more attachments, like
a bipod for more stability
flashlights or laser pointers
under-barrel shotgun or grenade launcher
…
Now let’s get experimental…
under-barrel electroshock-staff (for a melee attack with stunning effect on small machines)
bulletprove shield (a transparent shield at the barrel, that protects us from some bullets while aiming. Adds 5% to bullet protection)
…
These are just a few ideas, maybe even enough. But what about you? Anything that could fit in the context?
I’m always a bit mindful when suggesting something that completely changes a system that’s tied to other systems, and also suggesting something that requires a ton of new modeling unless it’s super important, so… While I’d love to see “different” attachment points (underbarrel / rail attachments, bipods, LAM/lights) and other structural changes (different scope skins, different stocks, different barrel lenghts, etc etc), I think those would be harder to justify from a development cost standpoint.
…However.
I’d love to see experimental attachments in the form of stuff we already have slots for, or stuff that goes on guns that have the slots, but nothing to go on it.
Some examples could be:
Experimental scopes/sights: Built-in tech mode and/or rangefinder, or built-in full-spectrum suite (so it’s just a tidy scope instead of that bulky hunk cluttering your view).
Gen 2 night vision (grayscale and with better contrast and white-balance, instead of the nearly useless green mess we have)
Jungle-style magazines (for faster reloads)
More muzzle devices (aside from compensators and suppressors, we could have muzzle breaks, rifle grenades, bayonets, etc etc)
Bigger tube mags for shotguns (self-explanatory)
Bigger mags for hunting rifles (again, self-explanatory)
Experimental seeker module for the Carl Gustaf / RPG
Yeah, an experimental auto-reloader magazine which turns the guns in semi-automatic rifles. Maybe the wrong words, but I think you know what I mean. For magazine slot.

Ok, I didn’t mention bayonets because I don’t see much use for them against machines. But we have a bat and a pitchfork, so why don’t have a bayonet, which could even work as additional firemode… If you’re out of ammo you could still use the gun as melee weapon.
Heat or laser guided? Or both as alternative modules? While the heat seeker would have a higher chance to hit something (aim at a tank, but hit the runner that crosses the line) and would be like “fire and forget”, the laser guided has a greater chance to hit the target you aim at, but you have to earn some skill in usage and you would have to aim at the target all the time until it got hit.
