When my friend and I took over and grabbed the first base he could access the build menu, but after rejoining another day, he does not have access anymore.
Any fixes for this?

The only fix im aware of is for him to be in the lobby as the base is claimed. Everything Base related is broken to an extent for Clients as of the modt recent Major update in July, maybe the next update will fix the issues caused.
