I’ve got a weird one for you guys. Already posted this to the Steam forums but I’m not holding my breath. Hoping someone has a thought.
This just started happening to me today. Last time I played was Thursday and it was just fine.
It’s a bug where the game will not take input from any of the number or letter keys on my keyboard. Once in a blue moon after either tapping or holding down one or more letter or number keys, the game will lock that key in a pressed state. This is only for the game and does not affect other software or the OS.
So for example, I am able to jump, crouch, open menus, et cetera, but unable to move, use/open, switch the flashlight on or off, select weapons or items. After attempting to do so for about 15-20 seconds, occasionally one of the key presses will register and the player will be stuck moving in a given direction, unable to stop. Opening the menu will result in the same keypress being held. If, for example, the keypress is whatever is currently bound to move forward or move backward, I will be unable to select any option in the menu as the highlighted option will either constantly travel up or down. Of the key happens to be bound to left or right, I can move around in menus, but as soon as I mouse over a menu option with selectable options, these will begin to furiously cycle in the direction that the key has frozen in.
At first I thought this might have been a keyboard issue. However, the same problem does not exist in any of the other games I’ve tried it in, and more interesting, if I alt-tab out of GZ and click on a text field like the Steam search bar or my web browser address bar, the key is not being pressed and responds as normal. This does not change the behavior when I alt-tab back into the game.
Experimentally I have been able to bind movement keys to up, down, left, right, tab, space, ctrl and shift, but only if I do so before the stick happens. These keys will respond as one would expect in this situation.
Verified game file integrity, uninstalled/reinstalled, updated keyboard and mouse drivers, updated all PC firmware. THe only other peripherals I have connected to the computer are a microphone and an outboard sound card. This one’s a real doozie and it’s got me pulling my hair out, especially since I finally started playing it multiplayer with a close friend who I’ve been struggling to find ways to spend time with for the past couple weeks.
I’m using a Logitech G-pro keyboard for anyone asking. But again, the issue is not reflected in any other software, even when the issue is ongoing in a tabbed-out game.
