Games that are similiar to Gen z

Im wanting to play some games that are similar or pretty close ish lol to Gen zee …are there any games anyone knows of close to gen z ill check em out on u tube and online that you fellow ostertornians recommend  THANKS you all

You could try Horizon Zero Down, Atomfall, or Atomic Heart.

If you know one, tell me.
I’m looking for some other cooperative story FPS on PS5, too.

Yes, there is Borderlands 3 for example, but that’s special. What else?

Is it good in terms of world exploration and story credibility (i.e. not obviously ridiculous)?

I have the notion that it is pretty violent, and one thing I very much like about GZ (and to some degree Halflife) is that you are not fighting humans.

@mothmando2020 , please don’t laugh at me :slightly_smiling_face:

Hogwarts Legacy

I know, I’m in my late fifties and should have grown out of the Harry Potter universe a long time ago. And it is pure fantasy - and ridiculous if you don’t believe in magic. But the world exploration is marvelous, the story and missions are very well designed, the graphics are stunning, the action is great, and the characters that you encounter are very well designed. And it is very stable. Great fun to play.

It is, however, very different from GZ, and once you’re done, you’re done. Not like GZ that I keep coming back to play.

But I’m far from an experienced gamer, and I have played very few other games for a very long time now. So obviously I’m not the right person to ask :slightly_smiling_face:

Although I liked many FPS where you fight humen, GZ is a good example for a game where the weapons, the amount of bullets and the hitpoints of the enemies in general feel good balanced. Only exceptions are the tyrants, but for reasons. In addition, in GZ you get a feeling that every bullet counts. It’s not just a healthbar that needs to be reduced to zero, there are so many components that can be destroyed with a lasting effect… And the sparkling effects do the rest to the immersion.

Many FPS games where you fight blood-filled enemies are totally out of balance regarding this.

Do you know what I mean?

Agree. It is certainly an abstraction, and please don’t think that I in anyway judge these games and their players. In Hogwarts Legacy you kill humans, goblins, trolls and whatnot, so I’m not “fundalistic” in that regard. Actually, when you kill a human in HL, the protagonist gives an kind of excuse (“you did this to yourself, you followed an evil path”), which I found quite amusing.

What I don’t like, and this is just me, is when games glorifies the kill and make it overly explicit. Games are entertainment, and I don’t find that particularly entertaining.

Now, regarding killing animals whether for enjoyment or for eating is about ethics. And you are right, actually, that for me that is a trade-off as I would expect that to be for everyone that pays it any thoughts. I’m not perfect, I’m pragmatic trying to find a balance that suits me. As everyone who cares about it should. Again, no judgement or preaching. Peace :coffee::slightly_smiling_face:

I’m impressed, I’m the same way. For some reason I’m not into the human killing scene. Kind of rare to find others that feel the same way. So many games are militant based.

Just a few I can think of are:

Helldivers 2 - You fight bugs, bots, and zombie like species called the Illuminate
Earth Defense Force 5 and 6 - Fight aliens and giant bugs
Monster Hunter - fight large dinosaurs
Space Beast Terror Fright - Fight aliens
*Gunfire Reborn - Anthropomorphic characters like foxes, owls, and pandas fight in a very fantasy like setting

Hope those might be something you would like. :+1:

This is a very interesting discussion. I think it depends on the individual. I would assume that the vast majority plays for the fun of it, and have absolutely no problem distinguishing the game world from reality. It might even serve as a “pressure valve” where you can get rid of surplus aggressions. It is like kids playing war, which I find normal and a healthy way of dealing with the natural urge to fight. For many years “back then” I practised full-contact knock-down karate, and my mates were the most easy-going, polite, and considerate little monsters (outside the Dojo, obviously) - with the occasional exception that trained for all the wrong reasons.

So, no, I don’t think playing Counter Strike or the likes is harmful at all, unless you do nothing else. But I suppose you can say that about pretty much everything

Gysbert, are you vegetarian?

Oh just wondering with how you responded to that.

Its a sad photo, but i remember from a conversation that at least they eat what they kill.
While other people hunt for sport and fun which is horrible.
So at least the animals are not wasted.

Besides the other 3 mentioned already i have some sugestions.

Helldivers 2 really is a lot of fun and the weapons feel great.
I dont like live service games but this one is special , im more of a Lone wolf, but i really recomend it, and you can play alone for half of the difficulty levels (at least i do) or with friends, you can even share lobby codes so that no one else enters the lobby ( yes im looking down on you GZ).

In other genres, Dead island games are very fun too however nothing to do with GZ.

I also recomend The forever winter, its GZ Hardcore level, with no help, no hope, its basically our future if hostile regimes are not destroyed in the next 40 years.

Yes, the photo came from another thread and another context before somehow making it into this thread. And the context was exactly about how to prepare the animals you kill into something you eat.

To me, actually, this photo is not nearly as sad as taking a stroll down the supermarket ailes with cooled plastic wrapped meat on display, as I’m quite confident these deers had a much more satisfying life than the farm animals that ended up in shrink wrapped and barcode marked bags.

That said (and before we get all carried away ) the only thing that saddens me on my daily visits to the supermarket is the rising prices

Yeh i had a conversation with Him 3 years ago in the same context.
Ah…Yes the rising prices affect a lot more.
But its different to have slices of meat at the supermarket than dead animals in front of us.
Most of us are shielded from that reality, even those who consume only cheese and milk dont know the harsh reality from the poor cows(or goats or others).

I hope one day we will be able to fabricate any food the way they do it in Star trek with 0% animal suffering.

My point exactly, @Mr_A1992 . Couldn’t agree more!

We are getting there, and I also believe that we are seeing generational shifts in attitude towards animal suffering. Now I’m a bitter, old man, so I’m expected to bitch on the youth of today, but in this particular case I think they will get it right :slightly_smiling_face:

Now I would like to make an elegant, yet subtle, transition back to topic. Partly because we have been dealing with deer hunting, partly because I have this unsettling feeling that we are stretching our favorite moderators patience, and partly because I bought a game on sale a few years back that never really got me going:

:deer:The Hunter: Call of the wild :bow_and_arrow:

It’s Avalanche and I thought that it would have similarities to GZ which I think it does (same engine?). However, it didn’t appeal to me in the same way that GZ did. Perhaps it started on a too slow note. I started out at a cabin equipped with a rifle, found the trail, saw a few deers, had one in the cross hair, shot at it … and they all ran away newer to be seen again. After strolling around for half a hour and getting kind of lost, I got bored, closed the game, grabbed a cup of :coffee: and started GZ. Ahh, back at my home turf.

Now, what did I do wrong?

If any of you have played this game, I would like to ask you:

  • is it about sitting in a bush for 45 minutes before you spot some game?
  • is there a world to explore with similar size, beauty, and things to discover as GZ?
  • are there mission to complete and weapons to find or trade?
  • can you play it leisurely for 15 minutes at a time or do you need to set aside the whole evening?

It sits on my X-box almost in mint condition, and I can’t really decide if I should give it another try (some games have a learning curve that might be a put-off) or should I go for a walk in the nearby forest instead

Any input is appreciated :+1:

I’ll try to test it.
Have it in my PS library… Idk, maybe because of PS plus premium…

What about DayZ?
It’ll be a PS plus title in august and I’m in hope that IT could be fun… Me and friends against zombies in an Open world with survival elements… Is it a good choice?

Ok, @Madchaser , you do that and I’ll give it another go when I get home this weekend. I’m sure that there is quite a lot more to uncover than became evident on my first tryout, but I kind of fear that it is too realistic in terms of spending time on waiting for something to happen. Not everybody is as proficient as @NJR87 doing five deers in ten minutes :+1:

I’ve circled around DayZ a few times, but I’ve never done these survival games. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider

What’s about the last of us.

I myself looked in 2019 for an ego shooter and looked at much games. My son had a few on his playstation. But sniper and Call of Duty and dying light did’nt satisfy me because of killing people. I looked especially for a game where i had not killing people and a suggestion of a friend of mine was Generation Zero. I choose at least between Terminator adn Generation Zero and decidet then for GenZ and it was a very good choice. Regular i don’t like games where i have to kill people it doesn’t satisfy me because of it makes me think how easy it si to whipe out a live. And i agree with all people they have the same thoughts. In case of the last of us is it an other way. The game has a great atmosphäre and the monsters you have to fight are no people they where death bodys moved by a mushroom. I watched both seasons on sky and i looked at some playthroughs. I play not very often but i come every time back to GenZ because of the special athmosphäre the game has. And i believe The last of us has the same.
