Is there a way to avoid those gates around an area?
What gates are you referring to?
around military areas for example
Could you provide a screenshot of a specific gate?
Sure, āIāll be backā
b.t.w. I just rang my bell, sitting on my bike, with the left mouse button
Gates of the fences you can open? Sometimes you can find breaks in the fences or crates, vehicles and other things in just the right places to you can jump onto and jump over the fences. Other times you can find where the terrain goes up or down and the fences drop a little to low and you just jump over.
Yes, thanks. I know this. But gates for hundreds of meters longā¦ not possible to jump or find other methods.
Maybe gates is the wrong word. I guess you just mean fences.
Maybe youāre talking about the fence around the ƶverby airfield?
There is just one gate in the north.
In the south there is a breakthrough caused by a tank which fell into the fence.
There is also a tunnel entrance (red door) in the western south and, but Iām not sure anymore, another entrance in the west.
At some places, like @JuanEyeJack said, the fence is that low that you can jump over it with some practice.
Correct! Fences.
Endless walking/running aroundā¦
As owner of the tactical equipment pack dlc you could place a tactical shield next to the fence, jump on the shield and over the fence.
Should work in most cases.
Sounds like youāre referring to the Overby Air Base. Like most military installations in real life, itās surrounded by fencing and inaccessible but through the main gates on the north side towards the west end of the field.
That said, on the south side, thereās a collapsed section of fence as well where a tank fell and you can get in that way. But if you miss either these entrances, youāre going to spend a LONG time walking around trying to get inside.
There are fences around other military installations in the game as well, although I donāt think there are any quite as long as the air base.
Rocket-jumping is a thing in GZ
In fact, the term rocket launcher can mean more than 1 thing in GZ.
In fact, the granatgevƤr and the soviet rpg are grenade launchers (for rocket propelled grenades) and no rocket launchers.
The Soviet one is indeed an RPG - modelled after the Soviet-era RPG-7. It fires what can be described as a grenade attached to a long stick full of propellant.
The GranatgevƤr m/49 though is a misnomer. Itās modelled after an AT4 anti-tank gun thatās normally a disposable single shot weapon. It shares sort of a strange hybrid characteristic with rocket launchers and recoilless rifles. Itās technically not a rifle, as itās smoothbore, not grenade launcher nor a rocket launcher since it has no rocket motor. Itās sort of in a strange class of its own.
So thereās a lot wrong with its depiction, operation and naming in the game. But honestly, itās just fun and I wonāt be too picky about it as itās a personal favourite of mine.
I have not found any long fences that donāt have a way to get across them other than gates. Air base has a one or two close to the corner at the southeast end and then on the northeast corner also has one. Not exactly on the corners but near them and it is possible to jump over the fence to get outside the air base. Jump back in is a little more tricky.
There is also a low fence past the fallen tank on the south fence headed west. There is a slight hill and then as it goes down you can jump a low spot in the fence. The west end of the air base you can go through the hanger, very complex to get to the door on the other side of the fence and then there is another hanger on the southwest end that you wonder through, and it also has an exit to the other side of the fence. But I hardly every use them so not sure of the routes.
The M/49 is most certainly not an AT4, itās a Carl Gustaf M2. It is portrayed accurately as such.
Then I stand corrected. I always thought is was an odd AT4, but it would seem Iām wrong.
Soā¦Can we still call it a rocket launcher?
As long as we donāt have to call fences āgatesā
(silently going back to topicā¦ )
