Being anywhere near Soviet bots fighting Swedish bots seems to get you involved into the conflict at a specific distance from them even if none of the machines involved can see or otherwise notice you.
In most of the cases I was instantly being targeted by all of them the moment I got close enough to see what was going on. This is very different compared to their usual behaviour as you can normally sneak past them at a reasonable distance.
The constant detection around fights breaks stealth gameplay and makes it very difficult to travel the Farmlands and the Marshlands. I also have the feeling that this behaviour isnât intended as itâs massively different from what the bots are when not fighting each other.
I have not run into this and it may be a bug for a few. But I will state that I noticed the âIn Combatâ warning pops up but the machines do not always attack. Which it seems to happen anytime the MACHINES are in combat and doesnât mean in combat with me. This would even happen before the update, you could go prone, fire a single shot and the red indicator would come on but if you wait, the machine goes back to relaxing again. But it is not a given, which makes it more fun to play solo. Good example of this is on Himfjall Island where there is nothing but runners near the light house. You can use the Soviet sniper rifle and pick off the runners one by one and at times the red lights come on, but that doesnât mean the rest of the machines are alerted and the runner that was hit is just in combat mode.
I have got right up on them, from behind, with no issues. Would be a great time to use a silent melee weapon, if we had them. I have even been able to pick machines off from a distance without getting fired upon. But that does not always work, because I attract their attention from being more exposed at times.
I have seen the same odd behavior: being detected(?) and âin combatâ even if I can only hear the ongoing skirmish. But there are usually no machines shooting in my direction just at each otherâŚ
No but I fail to see how that would make a difference when line of sight isnât needed in the first place. I tested the stealth skills and they definately donât make a difference. Detection is instant at a certain distance.
When there are no obstacles between me and the bots they instantly target me. I was also able to get relatively close to fighting machines but in these cases there were physical objects blocking line of sight. I got the combat music and detection warning regardless.
Not my experience. I have gotten very close to those fighting frenzies, but I approached them in prone mode long before Iâve reached the normal detection distance. Without my stealth clothes I wouldâve been detected earlier. I am never instantly detected, I have always time to back away and take different approach. If Iâm just walking when detected, most of the time I can get prone and get the detection to go away.
But detection range in Guerrilla is much further than in Adventure of course.
Sorry, I thought my answer was clear. When I get close enough for the machines to detect me and there is a line of sight between me and the bots, they instantly turn on me. When the line of sight is blocked, letâs say by a large barn, the bots donât attack me but the combat music starts and I get the combat notification which is also shown on the map when I open it. I donât know how to word it to make it even more clear.
Whenever I go near a bot fight I do get the âentered combatâ notification and combat music, but the machines rarely ever target me. Usually itâll just be one or two stray Hunters or Runners turning on me while the rest focus on each other. Feels pretty cool watching them fight and interfering as necessary to ensure they wipe each other out.
Machines also arenât thankful at all, because everytime when I helped the Swedish machines finish off the Soviet Wolfs and Lynxes, they then turned on me with a bad attitude. Well really!!
Is not the same as âthey turn on me and FIRE at meâ. That is attacking you. Looking at you is not. There is a big difference. I have had my girlfriend look at me and I felt I was being attacked but there was no physical contactâŚbut it still hurt just the same.
Iâve noticed The Hyper-detection only seems to happen when The opposing robot factions go into battle bot mode, but When they are in their separate spaces robot detection is normal. All stealth Tactics work as usual.
I only got GZ last week and have just started exploring out into the mountains/farmland areas.
I can confirm this bug/feature, call it what you will, happens to me.
Hear the sounds of combat from a long way away. Either over a hill or through several hundred meters of dense forest.
Detection meter goes yellow then red and the in combat music starts along with the âyou are in combatâ message.
Invariably several hunters will immediately charge in my direction, the first thing I know about this because of the lack of Los is either some mortars knocking me off my feet or if they clear the terrain enough to fire (note NO LoS due to trees etc, so I am blind) their rail gun I am suddenly on 2hp.
If the fight is around a beacon I may get credit for destroying said beacon without ever seeing it.
Today in the mountains I tried to do the âblow up the petrol stationâ quest. I heard the sound of fighting near the marker and blam⌠I am in combat while the other side of solid hill. The next thing I knew was three rail gun rounds from the three hunters that broke off combat to leg it after me put me in the mood to stop playing for the day.
I couldnât see them for the trees. But they made a bee line right for me.
It is most certainly spoiling my enjoyment of the game as it means I canât even try for any missions or do exploring near fighting.
Update: still happening since the update yesterday.
Latest instance was a corker:
I am INSIDE the Skvadern bunker safe house, stationary next to the stash chest. AKA so not in LoS itâs not funny.
I am crouched down out of habit.
I hear faint gunfire from the surface and almost instantly the stealth marker pops up full yellow followed a second later by the red one, the âin combatâ warning and the in combat music.
