Good advice from experienced players

2 years into playing this awesome game, im at a point where i dont quite know what to do next. what to focus on. its sutch a rich world that i dont realy have a decided direction. tenibris infinate videos jst remind me of how much i dont know, and i would benefit from advice from experienced players. i wish i could show someone my game and let them advise. ive begun taking out enemy control points, but the game wont let me claim most of them. i dont understand the error message im getting.
farmlands region 6/6 + 1
claim control point O -20 (0)
what does it mean? how do i acquire control tokens?
just as quickly as i claim contrtol points, theyre taken over again sometimes within the same session. is there anyone willing to help? id like to be able to ask specific questions to help form a game plan.

You can only have 6 control points claimed for yourself in the Farmlands. And to get more Command Tokens, you must take out FNIX Bases, you will always get 10 points per base no matter its level.

thanks for the reply Indominus. i went out and immediately captured a control point, this time in the forest region. i couldnt claim the point and got this message

forest region 3/4 + 1
control point O -20 (10)
i guess 3/4 means 3 of 4 points captured, but what does the + 1 mean ?
does control point -20 (10) mean i have 10 of 20 points needed to claim a base ?

Yes 3/4 means you have 3 out of the 4 control points you are allowed to have claimed. +1 just means itll add that onto the total, so in this case itll be maxed out. The 10 in -20(10) means you have 10 Command Tokens, you can see this in top right when you are on the map.

so do i need command tokens to claim a base ?
can i use command tokens earned in one region in a different region ?

Command tokens arent tied to a region, but yes you need command tokens to claim a base.

I feel like some icon explanation could be good here.

Neutral Control Point
Neutral_CP

This is how control points appear when you find them. These haven’t been claimed by neither FNIX, nor the resistance.

FNIX Base
FNIX_Base_1 FNIX_Base_3

Control points that have been claimed by FNIX. There are 3 different tiers (Tier 1 “Easy” and Tier 3 “Hard” shown - indicated by the size and filling). Destroy these FNIX bases to get 10 command tokens per base, plus mats and a chance of experimental weapons (you get more mats for higher tiers). This reverts to a neutral control point after the FNIX base has been destroyed.

Resistance Base
Res_Base

Control point that you have claimed for 20 command tokens. Here you can build your own home base, using materials you find and get from Base Assault and Base Defense. You can only claim a limited number of control points per region. You can manually give up a control point and gain 10 command tokens - the control point then reverts to neutral status.

Resistance Base under attack
Res_Base_Att

This resistance base is being attacked by FNIX (upon start of the base defense mission). Go here and start a base defense to protect your base (select easy, medium or hard, depending on your preference), and gain additional mats and experiemental weapons. This reverts to a normal resistance base if you fend off the attack, or to a neutral control point if the robots destroy the base center.

You should add, that there are three different levels of fnix bases with slightly different icons.

This should be clarified. It’s not that a roaming machine attacks your base and it’s not a sudden massive attack-wave against a base. It’s just an icon which tells you that base defense missions for this control point have been activated and that you’re able to start them manually.
It could be missunderstood.

thanks very much for the detailed response friends. this helps me understand base capturing better. i feel like youll never get to a point where you have successfully claimed all the bases in a region. i see they are constantly contested. sounds like i need to complete as many defenses and control point captures as possible. luckily i absolutely love killing robots.
i have been able to store 7.26 and high explosive dual purpose rounds at my bases. i saw a tenibris infinate video where he showed using multiple characters to increase storage capacity. most of the video was beyond my experience. i did notice he was storing ammo in base defense items i havent seen available. how can i store more than these two types of ammo. my storage box and recycling station are maxed out

Why do you need more space for more ammo?
Don’t loot as much or drop it, if you cannot recycle it.

To answer your question, there is just one more possibility to store ammo. The .50 can be placed into sniper towers (edit: base support dlc).

But with a maxed out character and maxed out plundra and up to 14 bases with 5 defense structures each, you just don’t need more storage for ammo. When do you want to spend it?

You can store extra ammo in pillboxes (7.62), grenade launchers (HEDP etc.) and sniper towers (.50 Cal).

The grenade launcher is part of the Base Defense Pack, and the sniper tower is part of the Base Support Pack.

I would recommend these two packs if you enjoy building bases and hoarding ammo (like I do)!:sunglasses:

many thanks to all for the valuable info. i picked up the base defense pack, and decided to focus on holding on to one base per region. i was trying juggle multiple bases and running low on resources to build and repair. im still working my way through missions, and trying to warm up to new weapons. i just started using the consumables station. i havent been awarded skill points in a long time though i continue to level up. im open to suggestions on what to focus on to proceed through the game.

How many characters do you have? I’ve created 3 main characters - 2 with different experimental loadouts, and 1 with Eastern European loadout (Soviet and EE Weapon Packs).

For me, it’s fun to have different characters so I can use different weapons. At the moment, I use:

  • My primary character for Base Assaults and Reaper fights
  • My secondary character for Assignments and Rival fights
  • My EE character for Base Defense plus other missions

So you could consider starting a new character in the same world, and level up this guy from base defense and base assaults.

Also, I recently re-allocated my skill points with inspiration from Tene’s latest build, which is available here:

I don’t use his exact loadout, but for skill points be sure to max out Armor Damage, Trigger Happy and Component Damage. In this way, you’ll deal out tons of damage to machines, no matter which weapons you use.

Also for inspiration in general, just watch some of Tene’s or Wired’s videos - they’re a lot of fun!

Of course, no problem. Ask all you like - hopefully someone (myself included) can provide further guidance…

Also, GZ becomes more rewarding as you work your way throgh, and find your own way of doing things. :sunglasses:
