Well i will test if this works. But no destroyed component will throw blue sparks, and do direct damage.
Maybe we should first define what @Anon302611 exactly means by âkneecapsâ !?
Is it the armor plate in front of the actual knee ? If so there are more âblue sparksâ after the plate is off and one starts to hit the knee itself.
If not, I have no clue⊠

See that makes more sense. Always though the hit box was a little weird.
Being wrong is erroneously associated with failure, when, in fact, to be proven wrong should be celebrated, for it elevates someone to a new level of understanding. 
Checked your vid, twice, and in there, neither of the two knee joints were busted. What you did snipe, was the electrical boxes just above the knee joints. Due to that, you hitting the tankâs knee joint does produce blue sparks since it isnât destroyed.
Melee weapons do have longer reach range than it initially seems. Hence the hits to the tankâs main body but i agree that you shouldnât be able to do that through tankâs leg.
Just like seen in your still image. Hit to the leg produces small yellow sparks (minimal damage), while the bat magically reaches further out, damaging tankâs main body and itâs components (blue sparks) as well.
In your case, i had ground for it since in my game, i have always seen what i described: When component is destroyed, it starts burning while sparking and any hits/shots to already destroyed component produces small, yellow sparks. Hence why what you described was contradictory to what iâve always seen. (Not what i âthoughtâ but what i âknowâ.)
Are you saying that i didnât have ground for questioning your observations? 
Since you came out with different observations, itâs fair that you also provide proof to your claims.

The knee joint was busted. It was not throwing sparks. The electrical box was destroyed. what Aesyle pointed out was correct. ANY destroyed component will no longer make direct damage when hit. i.e blue sparks. So if you hit it with the bat, it will no longer make direct damage. However it seems when you hit the legs of the tank the main body sparks. Which most likely means either a glitch, or they designed that way. As maybe you could not do enough damage with the bat as alot of the components are higher up on the tank.
also bro it is a GAME FORUM. come down. Aesyle does not âsound like a flat eartherâ. Both of you are right and wrong. This argument is dumb anyways.

I have done a test. It seems that when you hot a component of a tank. That it will cause main body components to spark. This also does damage to them. I have not tested if this works on dead components. But live components will spread damage to main ones.
That concludes that then 
bro calm down. She was wrong yes. But i have not seen any other time like this. She is right the tank does take a minimal amount of damage. What she was referring to was that the tank does not take direct damage FROM the knee joint/cap. She said that the bat reaches farther and does more damage. She then said it was weird it did that through the leg. Also she did not make the big fuss. You are the one that seems to be making the fuss. Sh was saying that the knee joint does not do direct damage, then agreed that the bat reaches farther out doing more damage. Whether that is by design, or the bat does reach farther out is not known. You also did not give REAl proof other than anectodal proof, before the vid. She was just pointing out what she thought to be true. I would have done the same thing. in fact i would have probably given the same response.

Since i created this guide when i was in progression of Anarchy challenge, i didnât had completion videos for Tier 3 and Tier 4. Now, days later, iâve completed the entirety of Anarchy challenge and also added completion videos for the guide above. 2 extra videos for Tier 3 and one for Tier 4. 
I did try out Sledgehammer against the tank (seen in one of the new videos i added now) and to my own personal feel, i like the baseball bat more.

And in-game also shows BrÀnnboll bat.
However, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it most likely is a duck.
Since it looks and performs as a baseball bat, it is a baseball bat. Also, according to Wiki (same link), baseball bats are used in brÀnnboll game;
A selection of bats is sometimes available, with a regular wooden or metallic baseball bat usually present, and a paddle-like bat resembling a cricket bat available for less experienced batsmen.
