I had an idea.
Before building a base, or planing to change an existing base to new requirements, it could be useful to have a tool to plan how the base could look like and to calculate the required ressources.
You know, building a base can be really time consuming and I currently even don’t know if you get all spent ressources when dismantling each structure type… So maybe it’s even expensive to try things out with your base.
I thought an excel workbook could help with that, so I tried to create a template.
But my idea went even further:
If anyone has the abilities to do that, wouldn’t it be nice to have a tool that also knows the exact available fields for building a base for every control point and gives us a range to place a placeholder for each structure and automatically counts them to calculate the ressources needed for that? Like a small app.
Someone here who can do that?
I’m still working on my first simple excel template, but I’ll link it here as soon as it’s available.

I know a couple different kinds of coding programs I could make something like that with, but there would be a couple problems:
I develop pc games mostly, and I’ve only made a couple mobile apps, so I’m not sure how high quality it would be
But if I was able to make this app, and it was complete, there’s the issue of publishing it, and making it available for everybody. I think the best way for me to do this is, instead of publishing it, I will make the app using scratch (a more simple coding website that makes mobile apps very easy to make), and put a link to it here, and it would be a website instead of an app. However, if you are using an iPhone, you can actually put website links into app shortcuts, making any website an app. I’m not sure if this works on android or not, I would assume it does.
But if I did manage to figure all this out, I think it could be worth it, just wouldn’t be many people using it. Not sure if I have the time to build the app, as I’m working on some testing for a WWII pc game at the moment, but I will definitely consider making this app if I get some extra time. Good idea for sure, I personally would love to have a base planner, considering how crucial base defenses are after the update.

You should put the links to your other games, I am sure a lot of us are looking for a new game to play after Generation Zero.
Sadly most of my older ones are no longer published, as I have moved on to a new studio, right now I mainly just have a few different tests I’m working on. But I’m hoping I get to start working on new projects soon. In the more distant future, I actually do have plans for a generation zero-like game, with different features, mechanics, and a more modern theme. But I will have to learn a bit more about my new studio before I can start working on projects like that. Believe it or not, I actually started using Roblox studio instead of unreal engine, since I’m able to develop so much faster using it, and it is definitely easier to learn. I’m importing 3D models from blender into my games to make them look realistic, so I guess we will see how it goes.

@dogcoffee I’m pretty adept at python and backend dev for websites as well as javascript / React javascript for frontend web dev… If you want, we can collab to see how we can form this into a website that is available to all and, to an extent, responsive enough to use on a tablet and phone… Phone may prove a little difficult, but I think we’d be able to showcase the layout and controls well enough to be usable on phone. I also have experience pkging python-based apps into executables and distributing them using an installer compatible for both windows and apple, but ultimately, I think web would be the ideal platform; mobile, too, but not experienced in mobile dev—can learn swift but I’m pretty busy with work as-is (making a CRM).

I am able to implement mobile controls, however the issue with h the type of coding I would use to make a mobile system is scratch, which is very difficult to make standalone games and apps with, but I will mess around with it and do some research and see if I can figure it out. Great idea honestly! A website for it would be a good way to make it accessible for both pc and mobile, and I believe I could make controls for both.
I may have actually found a way to download and move projects around with the type of code I’m using, meaning we could actually do a website and possibly a mobile app with it, I will mess with it and see how well it works.
