@Ennui, whatever your gender may be, you are funny, elegant, wise and smart. I enjoyed your post in all its facets.
I would be up for a seperat Hardcore mode:
Where you can do the story/side stuff again but on a increased diff with more enemies, less “good” loot and maybe even less carry capacity.
As of now in the base game a pack of hunters is not that big of a problem lategame, I can carry enough explosives to lvl an army and a couple thousands round for my AG4…
So I would be up to start again with a Hardcore mode.
My idea would be.
- New char
- New start on story etc
- No safehouse loot carry over (from "normal)
- No protypes (lowest enemy = military)
- On death you lose your backpack inventory (keep your
equpied guns, (drops a backpack on your death location
with your gear, maybe guarded by machines. - more enemies in general (maybe 25-50% depending on area, 10-20% more tanks & harvesters)
- lower quallity loot, it´s really easy to come of the starting area with blue weapon tier, and now also a few exp…
- Rivals are more common but don´t drop exp up to lvl 20+
- possibly no fast travel (as this negates high danger areas)
- Harder enemies in generel
(This is a game mode for players who wants a real challenge: Not for casual players) - Bonus: carry capacity (would decrease your movement speed per kg/x%)
These are only 11 changes for a diffrent gamemode that imo would make the game more challenging and also give me back the fear of machines as they right now are just chumps that I can deal with with enough time…
I like to hear what others think of my idea feel free to respond.
Get yourself a PS4 and try it solo with a controller. It’s not easy…
So true, @arc1969. I play Xbox with a controller and genuinely hate it. Drop keyboard and mouse if you guys need more challenge
Actually, I think that is a very central part of this ongoing discussion. PC gamers can optimise their gear with ultra-heavy-duty CPU+GPU hardware, superfast memory systems, gaming keyboards, laser mouse, gaming chairs, headsets, cupholders, and pastry bakeries. Console players don’t have (or wants?) these options.
After 9 days with the right perks it´s easy i promise you, if you need help clearing some hot spots, i`l help you.
I am speaking by myself, but i only have one problem, automatic aiming, we do not have an option to turn it off in the PS4, even so i manage to calculate the machines trajectory , removing that would improve the Kill ratio and make it easy to shoot them.
I find it really easy with the Dualshock, but that may be due to playing PlayStation games since 2002?
Or I put those money into someting like a new game or the new DLC that sounds like a challenge xD
Haven´t played Consol in a long time…
… but not necessarily for everyone
Do we have an option to turn it on on Xbox? When I aim in, I spend a lot of time tuning with my thumb. I’m so happy that especially the runners are a bit slow to react before they fire at me, otherwise I would still spend most of my time in the game being killed.
Indeed the runner reaction time helps, sometimes there are groups of 6 to 8 runners, and things get interesting…but in the general sense the game is neither hard nor soft, it is a guerrilla and scavenging game.
PS: Tell me later if there is an option to turn off automatic aiming on the Xbox, i am curious
All true.
Why then the console?
(Honest question, I always figured console players found that sort of fine-tuning (and setting up backup for your saves) more hassle than it was worth, that they valued “plug and play” over options.)
Some years ago I decided that I was getting too old for gaming. So I changes from gaming PCs to a more home/office setup using compact NUC machines. Then my gadget pusher had a fine offer on Xbox One S with Gears of War 1-4 and I bought it. Then I tried ReCore. Then GZ and now I play from my sofa in the comfort of my living room with my wife sitting next to me thinking I’m very childish and a rather stupid
I don’t know. Is there an option to turn it on? ReCore has very much auto-aim (to the point where it becomes almost ridiculous) but I don’t think GZ has it.
@IanForce
As always, good comments!!!
That’s why I so muck like you, my friend.
Now, I forgot to note, an OPTIONAL mode, this would be…
I do not like to force stuff on folks.
So, more casual players would still be good, AND have the option to… take it up a notch or 5000.
Even you might enjoy it…
@Flick
Not anything as too much info for me.
Makes things more clear.
Tactically you do great seems, are you a more casual, or a more ‘hardcore’ gamer, miss?
Thank you for responding.
@pegnose
Yes, people do have good ideas.
One of the reasons I make these posts, see…
To learn.
I like me a good pastry when gaming!
Me? Casual. I don’t have a massive amount of time for games and I enjoy a lot of non-computer stuff.
Exactly, @Xogroroth, I know how you stand in that regard and I’m sure you know how I stand too
This game is big enough for both of us
GZ too soft? Dude, I took a hunter down, and out of nowhere SIX hunters and THREE runners were on top of me before I could even loot it… and I did a recon of the area before proceeding, and it was clear.
They surrounded me inside a house, and I could not get out, as they would hide behind trees, houses and sheds and jumped on me as soon I would try to step outside (I could’ve fast traveled but I like the challenge) I took a few down, but ran out of .50 cal ammo, and spent nearly all my adrenaline shots.
Well you’ve got me confused… The PS4 version has auto aim? Doesn’t feel like it to me?
@Flick
Thank you.
Most kind to be so responsive, miss.
Sadly, I now seem to crash regularly when I am in MP, which I did not before…
Otherwise, I would have GLADLY helped you out doing the missions and so.
You can, however, ask for team in Discord?
That might be of help…?
@IanForce
So true!!!
And plenty, PLENTY more of us, even. XD
@n4tive
Oh don’t get me going…
If I can, I will NOT enter houses.
I am such a weak one in close quarter encounters…
But open field and forest, now that is a whole different story.
3840 machines killed… 77 deaths for me.
When in open field, I am… well, you do not want to be a machine…
But in a TOWN or house?
Yep, I ded.
I velly ded!!!
So, I try my utter best to not be in one… lol
Now… I need something of my chest… and it is about the machines… too soft for me…
Avalanche released the Apo machines…
Got SO hyped about these, FINALLY I would DIE!!!
Well… no…
I do not yet have Alpine, due to financial issues, but I hope I very soon will, if God wants to co-operate a wee.
Before I continue, this is NO ONES FAULT, let me point this out out front, it’s just… BAD LUCK.
It is NOT!!! Avalanche, it is NOT!!! Steam… well it is, everything is Steams fault, who am I kidding here…
Still.
30 mins after release, I got ingame.
Save for a few reactions on Discord, and a doctors appointment, I have been constantly ingame, looking for “da big bad beasts”…
Note, I speak of HOURS searching, restarting, you name it.
Been up North, nada.
Been for hours running from Kassaberg to Hisingyraffen… Hililigiraf? well the wast.soth tower on that island.
Not ONE SODDING APO, I encountered.
NOT EVEN ONE BLOODY APO TICK…
I am just so… very… very… disappointed right now…
To be honest… I just feel like…
Really, really sad…
How come the Spawn Gods hate me SO much…
/vent…
Its not really a auto aim, more of a “help” system, you aim to an enemy and the aim stays locked, maybe some people don’t notice it, and when enemies are running prevents you from aiming accordingly to their speed.
Basically makes you shoot to where the enemies are and not to where they will be, the only way to do it is to force the aim out of the “automatic help” (like trying to move away from a magnet).
I am confused some people don`t take notice of this
