I was laying down on tall grass using the PVG to take down an Apoc Tank. Using the PVG I expected trouble to come. I hear a few runners but am surprised I am not being shot at. I stand up, and there they were. Two Runners about 2 car lengths away from me looking around as if they couldn’t find me.
I never considered tall grass to be a deterrent if you are laying down, but now I am curious to test it some more.
I’ve been able to creep real close to Machines laying down, it really helps stealth gameplay. Yesterday when I was out hunting FNIX Machines for that EMP challenge a Tank walked past me just 2 meters away where I was lying down in some underbrush.
It also helps stabilizing your shots when sniping. I’m really glad it got added into the game.
If this game has the ballistics from theHunter: Call of the Wild, then I would guess the same stealth system is implemented at least on some level.
By the way; tH:CotW is the best hunting game there is
Yeah, going prone is great for stealth. Almost too great! I feel like there’s a noticeable divide between prone and standing and crouching; when you stand you’re spotted almost immediately, and then on the other end of the spectrum during prone you are almost invisible.
Newer guy here, prone has always been in the game for me because I only have 130 hours. It came as totally natural to me that grass would decrease my visibility and the hiding and stealth makes a lot of sense in the game, when you make noise or move fast you get seen. You can move directly below a tank or harv when prone, and I really think having three stances makes a lot of sense in GenZ.
Only thing that really drives me nuts is that certain foliage that is 0% transparent does not block enemy vision, mostly the cut bushes around a church.
So I was proning, using probably the loudest gun in the game, and they were not seeing me. Don’t you guys think they would have zeroed in on my fantastic noise maker?
