Could the main quest be adjusted to suggest or deeply imply that the real problem was the teen(s) rather than the machines? That, in fact, the machines were there to take back Sweden for its own citizens? Or is that premise too silly?
Possible Backstory:
The good people of Sweden had [had] enough. Sammy, Jill, Jack (her brother), and Hank were becoming a problem across the country. No one knew exactly how these four terrorizing 15-year-old brats had found each other.
They broke windows. They shot up TVs. They insisted upon an ‘ammo tax’ and any weaponry people could provide, even heirlooms. But most of all, they had successfully evaded efforts from SWAT, FBI, and even the military to round them up once and for all. So it was time to try out the robots. But that didn’t work out too well.
The kids were stunned at the reaction to their continued presence in the country from all Swedes everywhere. But it could just be their time of redemption as they pushed back the robotic menace from village to village. The kids could still be arrested after it was all said and done with, but the handcuffs might be golden.
