I Can't Get Generation Zero to Use dGPU

Platform: PC (Laptop) Xbox APP (Not Steam)

Description: I noticed Generation Zero (GZ) wasn’t using my High Performance GPU.

I have tried to get GZ to use my Nvidia GPU. I used the Nvidia Control Panel and System Graphic Settings to set the GPU but when I launch the game, Nvidia usage still idles at 0% while my AMD skyrockets to 100%. I know I am selecting the correct .exe file as I copied the file directory from the game launcher. I have updated my graphic drivers. I have tried disabled iGPU and it sorta works, but results in several other problems so that is not a solution.

This problem is only with GZ and other games use my GPU just fine, it’s just GZ that refuses to perform.

I don’t know if this is relevant. Both the Nvidia Control Panel and System Graphic Setting would say they didn’t have permission to open this file (GenerationZero_F.exe) when selecting in the file explorer. I am using a User with admin permissions and I ran the Nvidia Control Panel as administrator.

Specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H and it acts as an integrated GPU (Power Saving)
RAM: 32GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 (High performance)

Regardles if Admin or not, in search type UAC. If it is on highest, lower it on step.

Navigate to your steam games folder (steamapps\common\GenerationZero\GenerationZero_F.exe )
Right click GenerationZero_F.exe and chose propertis an check if the .exe is blocked. If, click the Unblock button.

If it don’t help, google how to take/change rights of files and folders. It’s to long to explain here.

UAC is on the default step (one lower from top).
Generation Zero is not blocked.
I have been messing with file access and ownership in safe boot. I have tried giving ownership to SYSTEM, my user account, and ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES. For permissions, I have given almost everything full control. Is there something specific I would need to make the owner or give permission?

Right click file, Properties, then Security tab and the Advanced button.
There you’ll see the current owner in first tab, as the system believes it.
And the second tab can do a test and read the real current owner and access.
In third tab you can give someone rights or take the ownership.

If you doing changes on all files and folder including system(account) you will make the system
more or less stable. Just a matter of time before it goes completely south. Windows isn’t made for user or even Admin to have rights everywhere and even less regarding ownership of them.

Google how to do a restoration and repair on your Windows with sfc scannow, it will restore, repair and fix rights on files and folders on your system. It’s several steps that have to be done from a promt.
Then from steam and GZ properties you should do a file integrity check on your GZ files.

I am not making changes to all files, I was just trying to change ownership and permissions of “GenerationZero_F.exe” so that Nvidia or Settings could set the GPU. Restoring, repairing, or verifying integrity still doesn’t fix my original problem. This has been an issue before I started modifying the file. You told me to try to change the file rights anyway. I did everything to revert the file to its original state and it still doesn’t use my GPU. I am now back where I started.
