I love this game, the cold war throwback combined with sci-fi. Great job!
During my time as a conscript in the Swedish military i served as a gunner on the Carl Gustaf (and still am on a volontary basis).
One of my thoughts, wich I have seen here before, is that this weapon needs to bring more punch. This should be combined with much fewer ammo drops for the weapon. Also the grenades could take up a much bigger part of the inventory. To haul 4 grenades is actually quite cumbersome.
The idea i want to talk about, however, is to add in the optical sight for the Carl-G. It has a 3x zoom and should give the player much better control in pinpointing wounerable parts on the machines on longer distances. It was in service during the cold war and would not mess with the timeline.
You’re absolutely right - I was serving on the late 70s and never used one of those with an iron sight - they all had the x3 as well. In the game you can see nothing through the iron sight - even the 5* one, and cannot target components (you can barely hit the centre of mass). So, yes, sights please…
If I recall another discussion in here about projectile rise/drop rates correct, the granatgevär should unlike al other rifles fire in pretty much a straight line (and how realistic is that, btw). So a scope would definitely be in order.
Um, yes, but in real life it is a bullet, not a rocket, so it goes up and goes down… The 66mm is a rocket, but not the 84mm, nor the 120mm Wombat. It’s a shame we haven’t got that, perhaps attached to a trailer pulled by the bicycle! A round from that would rip a Tank to pieces in all four corners of the landscape - the equivalent of a 5 inch naval shell - takes eight tons of Centurian turret, tears it off and chucks it 20ft in the air…
Love this thread!
When I did my service as a conscript, early eigthies, it was in Kustartilleriet, The Coastal Artillery, and we only had the iron sight, not a optical sight in sight. The GRG should not be equipped with it as standrad but it could be an attachement found somewhere.
I very much agree on that the grenades (bumpor…) was very heavy
Regarding the trajectory it is, like mentioned, a bullet and not a rocket. The optical sight is very easy to use at several distances clearly marking every 100 meters with a + and every 50 meter in between with a -. If the trajectory is correctly modelled im unsure of, but thats how you aim in real life. It also has usesful markers for different target speeds at the different ranges.
I had 32 grenades in my inventory yesterday. I would gladly have only 4 that did the same amount of damage as those 32 together. If they had that power i would not at all mind if each individual grenade took up 2 slots in the inventory, like the weapons do. This would give the granatgevär the powerful feeling that it is supposed to have, without making it ower powered.
