Instant meds dispensing/equipped items behaviour

Hello everybody!
I would like to change the current behavior for equipped items, so when selected, they are used immediately, instead of having to first select, then activate them.

In short, when i select a med kit, there should be no delay, it instantly is activated, and after its done, automatically change back to the previously equipped weapon.

i wouldnt mind the same behaviour for all other equipped items, to throw grenades or flares with the hot-button for that slot.

Also, the item slot should default to the last item type, if i have grenades in slot 3 and run out, the next time i pick up a grenade, it should automatically be equipped in slot 3, as long as i havent equiped something else in slot 3 after i ran out of grenades.
And while im at it, the same behaviour could be applied for weapons, when i run out of HE-RPG shells, and i pick up new ones, the weapon gets the new ammo (of the same type as previously loaded) without forcing me to select it.

The game, in its current state, doesnt really give us time to fiddle around with selecting&activating meds & items so a instant activation seems mandatory…

Agreed, both shoulder buttons to heal with a 5th designated - specific health pack

And when you accidentally (e.g in a heat of battle) press the wrong key and throw a grenade or consume advanced first aid kit while you’re at 98 HP? Then what?

Shoulder buttons on a 104 keys keyboard? Where? :eyes:

well, that would happen, but i dont see a problem with that.
At least then i would have time for med kits.

the current implementation is functional, but i often have to “fire” twice to activate the medkit, as well as re-equip my weapon so considering the time spent without a weapon in hand it would definitely be worth that odd grenade or medkit to reduce that time…

Sometimes i fall down cliffs “in the heat of a battle” too, but i wouldnt want a confirmation button for my movements eather…

Suppose whatever your equivalent to the shoulder buttons are.

I may do a mock up later for fun

I can see it being a problem and major one at that. People accidentally using/consuming item is far more devastating than spending the extra second or two to bring out the item to hand and then using it.

As far as time goes, it’s very easy to find time during combat to use consumables.
