Inventory disappearing

I got on my Xbox one and i started playing for a few hours but after i left for a few minutes and got back on, ALL of my weapons and things i had equipped inside of my inventory disappeared when i fast traveled to a different location. My game autosaved so i lost a ton of my main weapons and i cant seem to find a way to get my stuff back.

I think that might be a bug mainly with older consoles, I had this happen on a ps4 once, and I’ve heard of other people on older consoles with this issue. As far as fixing it, maybe if you contact their support they might be able to help you, but if it auto saved and you are on console, I don’t think there’s much you can do by yourself. Sorry to hear about that! Hopefully you can find a fix

Did you set your Xbox to rest mode / standby or something similar for these few minutes and turned it on to resume again?

  1. If it’s saved, everything that’s now gone is gone. There is no fix.

  2. That’s not just an issue on older consoles. When I first got my PS5 long ago I tried rest mode, turned it off and resumed later… But that didn’t work as expected with GZ. Many unsaved stuff and progress was gone and by doing fast travel or using the plundra I saved the new state.

So when you say putting it to rest mode, do you mean while the game is still running or after you exited to main menu?

No, I meant while being still in the game just at a safe spot. I paused (which isn’t really pause) and turned the PS5 to rest mode. It was advertised that you can always turn it to rest mode and continue playing your opened games easily and very fast when you come back… For GZ it didn’t work as expected… But there were/are other games, too… Those which require to be online, they have a risk that the session cannot just be continued because your token has timed out, for example.

In case of GZ unsaved stuff or progress easily was gone that way.

Okay, was suddenly worried I was gonna lose my progress, from being in the menu!

Try checking any recent cloud saves or previous manual saves to see if you can restore your inventory. If that doesn’t work, you might want to report the issue to the game’s support team or check online forums to see if others have found a fix.

Yeah, I think it mostly happens on older Xbox consoles, based on from my experience and from all the complaints I’ve seen over the years. It happened to me twice on Xbox One and once on my Xbox One X. But never on my Xbox Series X, yet! Sad days in my GZ history. I lost everything each time.
