Aspholmen is big Island which could be seen as a separate region, so why doesn’t it have separate outlines like Himfjäll does?
I’d guess for technical reasons.
Probably a new region would cause too many changes to the code. Not more, not less.

That’s what I thought too. Still it made me wonder if Östertörn basically is the name for the whole group of islands we see on the map, even the unnamed ones. So Himfjäll island is really a region of Östertörn?
At least we decided to seperate them regarding to the “guess where it is”-topic, which makes sense because not everyone is able to visit himfjäll.
I agree, ostertörn probably is the name for the group of islands. Nevertheless, named islands should be called by their names.
Himfjäll became an own region to enable the devs to exclude it as a dlc.
That wasn’t necessary for aspholmen. On the other hand, although making it a new region like himfjäll would have fit more, they decided to make it as part of an existing region. Just guessing, but there probably are a lot of tables for each region, like the region score and so on… These would have to be created and the region itself would have to be included in all the existing code.
A simple descition if you’re out of time and ressources. Sadly.

The design team that designed the additional island to the base game are not the same ones that did the DLC island with its own region name. The addition to the mountain region was not designed with the same care to detail as Himfjäll.
