Is possible to return to the original render distance?

hi!first of all…i really love this game!i just bought it since day one on ps4 and i have 2 original copy for play it online with my brother and my friends.
i play it on ps4 pro and sometimes on ps5.
i noticed that from the first excellent patches to the last one (1.51 hotfix) the render distance going badly down.seems that the problem starts around an “april 2023 patch”.
the main problem is that one of the most incredible feature of this game has missed:tactical sniping, strategic cover from distance with binoculars and sniper rifle.
for example, many times in ostervik, with my bro and my friends i was cover and help to walk on the streets while watching them from the hill above.now this is not possible…
another time with my squad, wipe all dogs and hunter from coast to coast…
i really would like that with a new hotfix, render distance come back like the first versions of the game…
Seems even that some graphic filters are missing…is it possible?
I’m inserting 2 photos here that represent the first version of the game, 1.00, and the latest version, 1.51.
please, solve this problem, generation zero was the only game with an incredible rendering distance and which allowed incredible and very fun actions!!
a warm greeting to everyone!

Idk what exactly you mean with the filters.
Lighting strongly depends on the time of day, the weather and the clouds.

For the render distance I would totally agree.
I just started playing in the middle of 2021. It looked like your first screenshot and you were able to see structures for a very long distance in general. Machines were rendered until a distance of slightly above 400m, as it is now again.

But looking at the structures and especially the trees, the quality got worse and worse.

I think that the devs decided to set these distances to improve the stability and performance for all systems. Although the game may run pretty stable and performant depending on the used system, it still may have strong FPS drops, crashes, stutter and so on… On every system.

So a general change could cause great issues for all players. Maybe. But at least I would love to have an automatic system detection that sets specific values to higher/lower quality settings (If even possible due to so many factors) or at least a settings menu where we may change these values on our own taste and risk. I’m just playing on PS5, so I don’t know what’s actually possible to set on the PC versions of the game. On consoles there sadly isn’t any quality option, except maybe the fov slider.

i think that render distance now is a really problem for the game(no words even for trees “blurried”…)…
ok for improve stability and performance…but seems to me that game now has big frame drops(ps4 pro,ps5 sometimes)…i just start to play it since 2018…render distance was cool until middle 2023 but i never noticed crashes or big frame drops like now…
and even on pc there this problem,my friend with a i9 13900k,rtx 4070ti,32gb and 2tb ssd…had exactly the same render distance of ps5(just some more trees…)…
i really cannot understand this choices…
i honestly hope that a final fix to this come soon…
i can uderstand on ps4 pro(no more…)…but on ps5 800mt render distance…is absolutely…possible!

Idk what’s really possible. Maybe even more. The limitations set what’s possible. If it’s not the Hardware, then it’s the software.
GZ once looked better than now.

Idk what causes the performance issues. Many many features and stuff has been added since the days it looked better.
So I just can guess that it’s not a matter of hardware in first, but a matter of the bad/old engine of the game. Too much load.

And I think that’s nothing they could easily change with a hotfix.

mmmh…perhaps can be an engine problem…yes it’s possible…
it’s true, from the initial release many things has been added…the engine must receive a specific patch, not only an hotfix.
i cross my fingers…

The render distance in 2019 was amazing, you could see as far as you could ever want to, and bullet drop actually mattered lol. But I guess if the view distance was that far away now the fos drops would be even worse, so I guess it kinda makes sense. Still sucks though

GENERATION ZERO IN 2019…WAS…EPIC!even the approach to the enemy was different…more tactic…because robots were more difficult to kill…

For real it was a bit better back then

Others would say, back then everything just was copy’n’paste and very boring.
Yeah, the fights were more challenging and especially we were able to chose our fights more than it’s now in most cases.
You were more cautious, used what you got,… Now it just feels like constantly looking for action. The “survival against the machines” became less important. The resistance, the war against the machines on the other hand became the central part.

Nevertheless… This just partly probably is a reason for how it looks now. More machines, more effects, more to calculate… Less performance, less graphics quality. Everything has its price.

i think before was more “realistic” about survival.and overall,u have the fear to meet machines beacuse engage a combat versus them was a nightmare in some cases(i remember in 2020 with my friend…an hour of fight with a tank…with us hide in a boo church!!)…
the graphics was really good and the render distance was epic.
i think that on next gen would be possible have a great render distance, for example on ps5 or xbsx or ps5 pro.same thing on pc…
why not implement a slider option so you can choose how much rendering distance to have for the most high-performance PCs?

I agree completely, the resistance/war theme is cool, but it took the focus away from the survival factor, and became a bit less realistic overall.

i really hope that game receive some patch like the old times…

No, its never going to happen i would love to have a better render distance like in the first 3 years…and render in real time(some areas when you look its like they are “being rendered” like from low resolution to HD, usually objects and walls.
We might not even get a patch to fix the latest bugs they introduced in December with the official Last Update!

Can’t say that I have noticed a difference in render distance since I started playing the game back in the day, not anything I can recall anyway.
Is this a console thing or what? I play on an old PC, and just took this screenshot.

You can make out a lot of low quality buildings and things like that, but if you look at the city in the distance you can see how it’s just blank space where all the houses should be, sadly it doesn’t render buildings and machines as far as it used to anymore

Ah yes, I see now. Compared to the first picture posted by @djzerotx above, there’s a huge difference.

The game is about building bases and defending them. (NOW) You don’t need to worry about sniping anything at any distance. And because of the very limited locations of the control points, you don’t need to explore, take in the sscenery or do any overwatch.
Welcome to Gen Zero 2.0

This could be why, when there was a management change in the company, the game took a turn to be a base building game and the new management didn’t care to do anything outside the control point areas.

i think u r in right…the management change in the company has totally blasted some of the best original features of the game…

yes my screen was from ps4 pro…anyway on pc there is the same issue…if you install the patch 1.51 the downgrade will be clear(i think you are playing on version 1.00 or 1.20…

yes exactly!!!i am worried about this thing…is really possible that the game remains like this…so bad…
