If I augment a level 2 weapon, will I be able to transfer it to the level 3 version of the same weapon when I find it?
Or will I lose all the resources I used for it and have to start from scratch?
Every weapon is for its own.
If you apply an augmentation to one gun it just reduces the costs of higher tiers of the augmentation for the same gun.
For every other gun, it doesn’t matter which type or level, you have to spend it again.

give them to multiplayer peoples 
if your not gonna use those augmentations anymore, I have triplets on some weapons were I didnt use Augmentations anymore & backpacked them for multiplayer peoples, don’t do if your only have 1 gold though, anyway
