Thank god that I’m not the only one, started to lose fate
My own rule has always been make shore you do the absolute best you can on the job, and make shore to not screw it up, if it’s something important or urgent, check and recheck again, better to be safe then sorrow.
Just gonna reiterate just one thing so shoot me down if ye must > @SR_Carni is a volunteer Moderator , and like us all is a gamer that want’s this title to succeed , and is just as annoyed as us all that this game has had a broken start , this was not the only thread he has read and replied too bouncing from topic to topic , so not excusing his temporary salt of the day moment , but we all been there Right ? - peace
Ps store will refund you if it is a non working game its in there policy i got my money back
Have you ever tried to submit code to the likes of Nintendo, Sony or MS on their distribution platforms?
In the case of Nintendo it takes about a month to get anything released, if there is anything at all they don’t like then you have to resubmit an updated version.
Downgrades still have the same approval process, friends still in the game industry say Sony and MS are similar but a little less strict and a little faster.
Steam and the Epic store are a lot easier and faster.
So don’t just say it’s easy to push a new patch, it’s a bit easier if you are the games company equivalent of a 350Kg gorilla but even they have to wait and jump through some hoops.
I also worked on a huge criminal justice organisation case management system (Microsoft host a case study on the Causeway project) as well as co-authoring several helpdesk, image management, page pairing and distribution (newspaper pages to printing sites across Europe and the US )
Before that I spent several years optimising and debugging other people’s game code (when the original devs could not fix or speed up their own code) plus developing protection and speed critical routines.
So I do have experience in both aspects of development requirements, so when I say
trying to compare the two implies a lack of experience on your part.
I’m sorry if I sound harsh but I’d rather be called rude than let somebody unknowingly saying ridiculous things especially when others are likely having a laugh in private.
I’m also a little tired of people with very little knowledge or experience saying how easy things are to do (there have been utterly ridiculous statements by others)
Seriously fire up a compiler (Visual C++, GoLang, C# or whatever) and create an OpenGL based project with a ground plane, half a dozen simple textured objects, a very you can steer around and tolerable collision detection (about 0.1% of a game.)
You could choose DirectX rather than OpenGl but not some off the shelf game engine where you just join the dots .
Then I suspect you will be a bit more sympathetic and understanding to the current position the Devs are in.
Yes I have whined about this game, but mostly due to the lack of information passed to us by the company, as a line in the patch notes saying things like “clipping through walls is being worked on BUT it’s still not ready”
A little information can make a huge difference
BTW I no longer work in software development as non game development was simply pushing records into databases and making SQL requests and you can’t do a good job if only your patience is being taxed.
Here’s a pal , peace , and i can say i only laugh at stupid comment’s like my one here , go on
laugh , i don’t mind , cheers
It may not have been yourself the post was directed towards.
There has been so much negativity (and some outright nastiness) that I can understand why a certain moderator wasn’t his usual positive and kind self.
I however am not a moderator and have been in development since the mid 80s and am capable of saying why somebody is doing themselves (and others) no favours with their statements.
Reign it in. I’ve made plenty of small 3D games in my spare time too, and I’m not trying to compare the experience. I’m not saying I’m some AAA developer, I’m simply saying that a rollback should always be faster than a new patch. That’s it. No need to flex your massive programmer pecs to prove a point.
Hi peeps so ive been playing this for over an hour with the new patch and no crash as of yet ive looted and killed and done a mission. How many of you are playing on a ps4 pro and its crashing?
I have a pro.Moderators should be there as an abuse stopper or maybe the odd keyboard warrior stopper lol Dont get involved emotionally just answer questions you can your a bot relativley. And report back ofcourse.
Ive also noticed alot off empty loot boxes.
So its an issue for both type of ps4 console error code (CE-34878-0) The game ran smoothly just blue screend more than once after an hour of play.Back to destiny.
I was merely pointing out that you didnt come on this topic guns blazing , ’ there’s been alot of that as you have prob noticed ’ . And i read your post ‘’ people laughing in private ‘’ if your as old as me i wouldnt care what people laugh at in private , aye them day’s are gone , , if i thought your post was directed at me i would have sent you a thousand of them s ,
@cta102 thank you very much.
I’ve slept and I think we’re all feeling a bit calmer now. I’m gonna try and find out the status of the crash fixes today
D3kk
No massive programmer muscles, just making the point that if you try to use your experience about how things should be, then somebody will point out your experience isn’t really applicable.
I posted my background simply to establish that I do know something of the matter, but I can also be told by much more experienced people “pipe down pipsqueak, you are incorrect and here’s why” and I had to aknowledge that I was in the wrong track.
If they as simply shouted idiot at me then I would have continued being clueless on the matter.
Anyway it’s not just a matter of emailing Sony or Microsoft and saying, we worked something, just sling the last update back online would you.
For a start you may have to tell the users to reinstall and then patch.
BUT that would upset the people who do have a working version of the game.
How would you balance that one?
At this point, I want to thank everyone for expressing their worries and participating in this (somewhat) productive discussion. Your patience will not have been in vain, I guarantee you that
So I’ve seen some posts on different areas about people trying to justify this crashing with “all games have bugs” but theres a BIG difference between a bug that messes with game mechanics and a bug that makes the game unplayable.
Hell Fallout 76 launched as one big shitstorm but atleast it was playable (Unless the servers crapped out)
You’re right, that issue shouldn’t have been released. They made a mistake, admitted it and are fixing it now. There is no excuse for the crashes.
I havnt been on here for a good while as ive had problems in real life(lifes too short) but some parts of this forum sounds like a warzone.I started playing the update last nite and tbh im gutted i cant get past from 5 mins to an hour of play without the same error.Theres nothing we can do to fix it and its pointless screaming about it only the devs can move it forward unless anyone else has a magic wand lol.Im not saying anyones comments are incorrect but we cant do nothing but wait…and play Sonic in junes plus line up:sweat_smile:
Hi there, do you already have an update on the status? Thx!
An official update on the status will be posted very soon!
