Landfall / Soviet Machines Discussion

So I thought we could have a common place to share and discuss our opinions on the new machines, strategies to combat them, ideas for the future, etc.

So far, at least to me, It seems like the northern farmlands is the best place to find them since that’s where the soviet presence is.

There seems to be at least two classes of the Wolf and Lynx

Class A and B can be distinguished by it’s colors
A seems to sport a green paint while B is more white.
Judging by the new collectables there seems to be 3 classes of the Wolf and Lynx or potentially 3 different machines, which i think is unlikely

The Lynx’s / Rollers
in general seem to have the same health as Runners / Dogs or maybe slightly higher, but deals much greater damage

Class a

Appears to be using an automatic weapon reminiscent of an AK or Dragunov
Some of them may also have a saw blade in the front

Class b

Is also capable of using a type of grenade launcher
seen here on the two to the left

The Wolf

Both classes seem to use rockets from pods on each side while also having a minigun when they stand up, both a and b can also use gas attacks against the player

Class A "Scout"

Class B "Soldier"

In addition to using the same weapons and being more armored than class A, the class B Wolf can also use some sort of AOE (area of effect) attack against machines.
I’m still unsure what this attack does

So immediate edit
there is also a class C Spetsnaz that apairs to use some winter came patern

They can slo be equiped with flame trowers

I want my huntable animals.

The warning the Spetsnaz Wolves make before they attack is so cool.

I wouldn’t really see how that would fit anywhere in the game, and don’t you dare say for a hunger and thirst system lol

Im playing GenZ. :ghost:

Clearly you should be playing something different if you want animals so bad.

Anyways back to the topic.
The machines look really cool from what I have seen. I’ll get to fighting them once I’m home.

Where can I post to say just how much I hate the new weapon wheel system there was nothing wrong with the old system it was perfect now I cant change a weapon without being a sitting duck

:ghost:I dont need to play another games. Immersion is a key feature of games like GenZ. Cookie? :ghost:

I like it, it allows for much more customization and more slots in general.

I do agree that it’s kinda annoying you freeze in place while swapping, but it takes a fraction of a second to switch so I don’t mind.

Its exactly the same number of slots you just have to decide items or weapons now

Also that fraction of a second while stood under a harvester planting large fuel cells is the difference between a fantastic explosion devastating the harvester or you being blown half way across the airfield

I do definitely say I cant wait to see the new machines and I am hoping for more in future

:ghost:Animals :ghost:

Well technically both new Machine types are named after animals, both of which exist in Sweden.

But, enough off-topic now. There’s plenty of feedback threads regarding such matters in
#feedback-feature-requests.

 Rideable machines…

That would be under Feedback/Feature Requests

It’s actually one more. you used to have 2 main weapons, 1 sidearm and 4 slots consumables/ throwables. now you can have 8 weapons if you want to, or just replace your sidearm with a rocket launcher. etc… there is more potential to be had from this,

Yes.

Scout out what you will be attacking and adjust your payload for best outcome before your attack. If you have to stop mid fight to pick a different weapon, then you should die anyway.

Using numbers on keyboard still is fast remembering what weapon is at each key. The mouse scroll-wheel gets a nice visual feedback and I find it useful for the 5 to 8 items that always change a lot depending on what I had in inventory to equip at each visit to Pludra. I wish one key could bind to a secondary pop-up wheel like in Red Dead Redemption.
