Licence update save file corruption

Hello SR Support,

Yesterday I wanted to play GZ and upon starting GZ on my PS5, I got screen stating that there is a license update and upon accepting it was prompted to start a new save.
There’s no option to continue existing save.
This is the second time its happened.
Redownloading manual cloud save did not help.
It’s very frustrating to have to start from scratch just prior to upcoming update.
I have over 3200 hours in game so am not a noob and am aware of this game’s idiosyncrasies.
Could you please investigate why save game corruption occurs and try to find a fix / workaround for it.
Being on console it’s cumbersome/not possible for me to have multiple save backups and keep trying to see if any of them work.
For now I will start a new save and carry on. Keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll find root cause and a fix in future.

It really sucks that happened, but actually not being a PS5 game you can have multiple saves, however they need to be in separate external hard drives or USB flashdrives.
You could have copied a save from 1 week ago to one of the USB devices, and yesterday to another device and there you have it, 2 different save backups.
I usually do that to games that have only 1 save file and i might want to have it 50% complete to have more replayability like for example Just Cause games.

Hi Mr_A1922, thanks for trying to help, I’d already tried your suggestion as I had a USB with an earlier save file.
However it did not work as the game does not recognise that there is an existing save.
The only option is to start a new game. “Continue” option is not visible on GZ home screen.
Since i enjoy playing GZ I’ll put in required effort to level up new characters from start, my fear is that the bug will strike again in future and am really interested in knowing if the game designers/developers are able to find a permanent solution.

Can you tell me how old was that save file?
Was it older than 1 year?

The cloud manual backup was from 2 days ago and USB backup save was about 6 months old (the previous time this issue occured).
Neither are recognised by the game.
