Looting and Inventory Management

First things first: I love the game! Shout-out to the creators and devs for making this great piece of entertainment!

I would like to address some issues I encountered during my first couple of hours:

  1. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Switching to mouse for looting items from boxes etc. is very tedious for mouse/keyboard users (one reason being the constantly changing start position of the mouse cursor). Controller players/devs might not be aware. Please give us a keybind for “Take all”. Let it be the same key that is used for opening boxes and then immediately exit the loot screen. Please! :slight_smile:

  2. And please let me pick up individual items from a box with a single left-click. There is no benefit of hitting the final ‘Take’ button after selecting multiple items, afaics.

  3. Similar with other menus. You can press ENTER to spawn a bike. The ENTER key is the one which is most distant from my left as well as my right hand. For either hand I would have to move my full hand. Why not the SPACE key? I can press that with my left thumb very easily.

  4. Please make the inventory always auto-stack same-type items.

  5. Please include an option to split inventory stacks. How am I supposed to give my buddy part of my .762 ammo? The good old CTR + drag’n’drop would be just fine.

  6. Please also let weapons automatically load additional ammo if the type already used by a gun. In order to clear up inventory space, I currently have to switch ammo type, re-stack the now unused type, and re-load this type. Kind of cumbersome.

  7. Also please show somewhere which ammo type a gun is currently using

  8. Please implement a way to see a weapon’s stats before picking it up. Has been asked before in a different thread. I include it here as my comments are mostly about looting/inventory.

  9. A sound related thing: Hovering over different loot items makes a selection sound while performing the actual looting does not. This often kind of throws me off: Did I actually pick the stuff up?

EDIT: I removed 2 points that were either expected behavior or a bug that is already covered somewhere else.

Plus here I blatantly copy what I had posted elsewhere what has to change with the plundra, to my mind:

  • the list let’s you only see a couple of items a time
  • the scrolling is slow and buggy (icons disappear)
  • items should display by category
  • you should see the quality indicators of all items
  • you should be able to resort items within the plundra
  • you should be able to manage your backpack inventory (rearrange, drop) while in the plundra screen

Sometimes the robots disappear.and sometimes even while active, in the cases i witnessed they were the escort of harvesters, i was about to destroy them and puff,1 of them disappeared .

I see @pegnose has covered all of my suggestions plus a few more I didn’t even think of. The ones I was going to mention were

  1. Key Bindings For Inventory (Step 1 above)

  2. Individual Inventory Quick-Take (Step 2 above)

  3. Auto-Stacking* (Steps 4 and 6 above)

  4. Current Ammo Type in the HUD** (Step 7 above)

  5. Quality of Weapon Display Outside of Inventory (Step 8 above). When you mouseover a weapon outside of a gun crate, you should see something like this:

    Acknowledge [A] Quest Item


    Take [E] Item
    * Dilapidated [in Grey]

*A lot of people that I watch on YouTube don’t even know that the ammo types are not auto-stacking. In fact, your very own Pontus seems to be the only one that knows that manual re-stacking must be done. You can see him here realizing that his inventory is too ‘full’ for a Pvg90 Pontus’s Manual Reshuffle Of Inventory To Add Pvg90 and then re-stacking his inventory to make room.
**An example of this would be ‘.32 AP’ for the two glock pistols. An ideal place would be under the fire-mode indicator or beside it (ie Semi-Auto (.32 AP) or Semi-Auto (.32 HP) or Semi-Auto (.32 FMJ)).
