Machines drop wrong ammo

Has anybody else notice how crap loot is from dead bots, for example harvesters are rocket based machines but give magnum/270 rounds more often then rockets??

I always wondered if it matters whether you take of the rocket pods befor bringing it down.

I experimented with that but still the same outcome, that would make perfect sense though if you destroyed the pods

In the case of harvesters, they’re the cargo carriers for the military so it’s not just the missile pods carrying ammo.

I get that just would be nice to get ammo type from the bots you kill, the exception being tanks they drop the right ammo

I think that ammo drop from machines vary from completely useless to full inventory restock. The only class that actually fits the title of the thread is Rivals on Himfjäll. They drop absolute crap! And even though I find the thing about seasonal clothing ridiculous, I must admit to be disappointed that not a single piece of Christmas attire has been dropped by any of the twenty or more Rivals I destroyed lately.

For me the biggest mystery are apocalypse hunters dropping 9mm SMG ammo :flushed:

@IanForce at least you have rivals to kill

Yes, @0L0, they spawn willingly for me. The most ridiculous drop was a level 3 Rival hunter that left me 7 (seven!) Klaucke rounds in total. I’ve said some harsh things in here about Rivals and silly clothing. I guess the devs noted that and put me on a “give crap loot from Rivals” list :joy:

For me, Harvesters basically only drop .44.

Interestingly, the amount of 7.62 dropped by hunters seems to depend on my weapons loadout. For Harvesters this is not the case.

I think the event ended on the 3rd, so it’d track if Rivals aren’t dropping the clothes anymore.

In the beginning (launch day), machines did drop the ammo true to the weapon they had. Few months on-wards and most of the player base wanted to get most, if not all ammo back from the kill, rather than looting it from the world and devs changed that.

Now, you get first aid kits from most machines and gain about 80% of spent ammo back when taking down bigger machines (harvs/tanks).
Introduced in June’s Update. From patch notes, read: “Machine Loot”.

With this, there’s much less initiative to explore and collect your gear (first aid kits and ammo) from looting. That, and bigger machines won’t drop the ammo THEY use against you, instead you get what YOU use against them, with some exceptions.

And I pondered a bit over that, because I found it pretty weird to find a first aid kit with a runner. Then I thought that perhaps the machines was initially designed to co-op with troops, in which case this would make sense.

Which is kind of unfair but increases “quality of life”.

I just find it odd that i will kill a hunter with an ag4(7.62 ammo) and then get .44 magnum bullets and that seems to be the case with most of my kills. I use ag4/pvg 90 combo but dont get the ammo back in return except tanks.
Maybe the dev’s will revisit loot/ammo RNG again in the future

Quite the opposite in fact.

Summary

From the game’s plot, the robots were designed to come out if there was a biological, chemical or nuclear attack and soldiers could not be present. Soldiers would be using remote controlled robots from a bunker.

Dropping “role play” ammo vs “game play” ammo gets on to the style of game GenZero is and some associated balance questions. I’m curious who the intended audience is, because I feel often the attention is towards the demographic who want yet another shooting clone.
